Russia Unions

Scott Walker Will Fight ‘Jihadists and Putin’ by Attacking Unions?

Written by SK Ashby

You're probably aware that Rudy Giuliani showed his ass and kicked off a week-long campaign of racism and hate at a dinner headlined by Wisconsin governor and presidential hopeful Scott Walker, but you may not be aware that Walker also said preposterous things at that dinner.

While Giuliani questioned the president's willingness to defend America with dogwhistles, winks and nods, Walker demonstrated his toughness by citing his policy record.

But Walker 'doesn't have a record of fighting terrorism or foreign wars' you might say, and you'd be right, but he does have a record of cutting education and squashing unions which is just as good according to him.

Walker argued that when Reagan fired the PATCO air-traffic controllers over their illegal strike, he was sending a message of toughness to Democrats and unions at home as well as our Soviet enemies abroad. Similarly, Walker believes his stance against unions in Wisconsin would be a signal of toughness to Islamic jihadists and Russia's Vladimir Putin.

I really can't imagine the Islamic State or Vladimir Putin give a single shit what Walker has done to unions in Wisconsin.

If either of them have any feelings on the subject at all, I imagine Putin and his cronies would be very impressed by Walker's policies that concentrate wealth at the top of the scale at the expense of workers. Maybe they can hire Walker as a spokesman or consultant.

I hadn't been born yet when Reagan fired the air-traffic controllers, but I also have doubts that the Soviet Union felt intimidated by actions that essentially weakened the position of American workers; not Soviet workers.

Certain portions of the media currently have a thrill up their leg about Scott Walker, but they along with many Americans will discover over the next year that Walker is a dullard who says and does whatever the Koch Brothers whisper in his ear. Walker's ability to work a crowd of Republicans donors who question the president's love of America with throwbacks to Ronald Reagan and promises of union-busting does not translate to electability.
