Conspiracy Theory

Iowa congressman and secret border control agent Steve King (R) says President Obama is bringing million of immigrants into the country so they will vote for him, but there's a major problem with this theory.

“It erodes the politics of this country, the respect for the rule of law, and it creates this massive electorate that will likely vote in large numbers for Barack Obama and his party, just like African-Americans have done so after Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, which by the way took the majority of Republicans in the House and Senate to make sure that that passed,” he added.

This would be an excellent coup for the president if he were actually running for a third term, but unfortunately he can't and isn't.

It's funny that King implies that Lyndon Johnson essentially bought the black vote with the Civil Rights Act, but then in his next breathe King credits Republicans for passing it. This would be appear to be contradictory even if you weren't aware that the country underwent a significant political realignment after the Civil Rights Act was passed and many Republicans became Democrats while Democrats became Republicans.

Is Steve King for or against the Civil Rights Act? I think we know the answer.

“They don’t understand the law, they come from lawless countries,” King said of undocumented immigrants. “So they’re not at all likely to defend our Constitution or the rule of law.”

It should have been clear years ago, but just in case it wasn't King would like you to know that he is a vile racist.

Even if the president could run for a third term, under the most generous of proposals considered by Congress it would take many years for today's DREAMers to become voting citizens. This massive electorate that King envisions voting for President Obama wouldn't be able to vote for another 10 to 20 years and that's only if comprehensive immigration form was passed today.

Many of the children brought into the country over the past two years won't even be of voting age for another 10 or more years and even at that point they won't be citizens and won't be able to vote.
