GOP Rep Wants to Make Impeaching the President Much Easier

Written by SK Ashby

Florida man Ted Yoho (R) has introduced a resolution that would redefine what constitutes an impeachable offense.

Listed impeachable crimes in his resolution include "failing to take care that the laws be faithfully executed through signing statements or systematic policies of nonenforcement"; "misusing federal agencies to advance a partisan political agenda"; and "issuing executive orders or presidential memoranda that infringe upon or circumvent the constitutional powers of Congress."

Yoho insists that his resolution isn't directed at President Obama, but that would be slightly easier to believe if it wasn't obviously directed at President Obama.

While various Republican congressmen have floated the idea of impeachment for years -- particularly over the executive discretion exercised by the Department of Homeland Security regarding deportation procedures -- the problem for those itching for an impeachment is that the president hasn't actually done anything that amounts to "high crimes and misdemeanors."

If the president hasn't committed high crimes or misdemeanors, what is a jackass like Ted Yoho to do?

Redefine "high crimes and misdemeanors." Obviously. If we make it a crime to be the president then we can impeach the president.

Darrell Issa must be cursing himself for not thinking of this before embarking on his failed four-year impeachment tour.
