The GOP Revives the 2004 Platform for 2016

Written by SK Ashby

The only thing we have to fear is getting blown up by terrorists.

That's the message today from several prominent Republicans and Republican presidential candidates.

For his part, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has declared that nothing matters if we aren't safe.

Lindsey Graham, meanwhile, declared that he's not going to alert the proper authorities if you're toying with the idea of becoming a terrorist because it would be much more efficient to just drone you.

"If I'm President of the United States and you're thinkin' about joining al-Qaeda or ISIL — anybody thinkin' about that? — I'm not going to call a judge, I'm going to call a drone and we will kill you," Graham said at the Iowa Republican Party's annual Lincoln Day Dinner fundraiser.

That's fairly bombastic, but not quite as dramatic as Chris Christie's dire warning.

“The Founders made sure that the first obligation of the American government was to protect the lives of the American people, and we can do this in a way that’s smart and cost-effective and protects civil liberties. But you know, you can’t enjoy your civil liberties if you’re in a coffin.

In 2016 Republicans will be running for the Iraq war and against gay marriage.

In other words, Republicans are running on their 2004 platform.
