Chris Christie is Failing in the Polls, It Must Be Time for Some Racism

Written by SK Ashby

New Jersey governor and flailing Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie is desperate for love and attention and, to that end, he's pulling out the dogwhistles and racial innuendo.

Christie would not reinstate Stop and Frisk on his first day in office if he were the mayor of New York City. No, he'd reinstate it in the first 5 minutes.

"Stop-and-frisk would be back in about five minutes and we would empower the police, not undercut them," Christie told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Tuesday. "And listen, if police officers step over the line, then they deserve to be taken care of and prosecuted. But this mayor [de Blasio] presumes guilt on the part of the police officers before anything happens."

Christie isn't running for mayor of New York City, but according to him President Obama is responsible for fostering a culture of "lawlessness" where you can get high if you want to or actually be an immigrant without living in fear every moment of your life.

"Sanctuary cities across the country, where if you are mayor, you don't want to enforce the immigration law? Eh, don't bother. Because the President doesn't like those laws," he said. "You want to get high in Colorado and Washington, even though marijuana is against the law in this country? Eh, go ahead."

City majors setting their own priorities? People getting high in Colorado or Washington? The audacity!

I hasten to remind you that Stop and Frisk was ruled unconstitutional under the Fourth Amendment. The program targeted minority citizens and the overwhelming majority of them (90%) were not guilty of a crime nor even suspected of committing a crime. Stop and Frisk was ruled unconstitutional before New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio even took office, by the way.

Chris Christie would bring the program back in defiance of the courts because he's running for president, for Pete's sake.

Few conservative pundits, if any, would admit it but this is essentially a Big Government platform. Telling states they cannot legalize marijuana; telling cities they cannot operate within the law by choosing not to flag immigrants for deportation (which isn't their duty); resuscitating an unconstitutional search and seizure program.

Christie blames President Obama for these policies but he can't be directly tied to any of them.
