GOP Jackasses Float Idea to Shut Down the Government Over Refugee Policy

Written by SK Ashby

A group of Republicans led by Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) are calling on Congressional Republican leadership to remove funding for refugees from the omnibus government funding bill they must pass before December 11th.

Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions sent a letter to colleagues Monday urging them to support adding language to the next government spending bill that would effectively block President Barack Obama's plan to accept 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next fiscal year. [...]

Sessions is proposing that Congress explicitly prohibit any funding for Syrian refugee resettlement unless Congress approves it and finds money to offset the cost.

End times preacher and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has also called on Speaker Paul Ryan to either block funding or resign as Speaker of the House.

Paul Ryan has been the speaker for all of two weeks. Has any other speaker faced a call for their resignation this quickly?

This would be a good time to remind everyone that the United States already accepts tens of thousands of refugees and asylum seekers every single year from all over the world including Syria, and no one is the wiser. What the Obama administration intends to do is increase the number of Syrians allowed into the country.

As an aside, Jeff Sessions has advised both Ted Cruz and Donald Trump on immigration policy.
