...are reportedly planned to hold an "Open Carry Walk and Crisis Performance Event" at the University of Texas at Austin this coming weekend that will feature a "fake mass shooting" and even fake blood.
The good news is the Univeristy of Texas at Austin has informed the group that they're not welcome on campus, however the Darwin nominees of Come and Take It will go ahead with their fake mass shooting just outside campus grounds.
After University of Texas officials said a gun rights demonstration planned for this weekend could be considered criminal trespass, the organizers said the demonstration would likely be staged on Guadalupe Street, adjacent to campus.
“We will move forward with the event on the adjacent public land using UT as the backdrop,” said Murdoch Pizgatti, a founder of the gun rights groups Come and Take It Texas and DontComply.com.
I don't know whether to call this disaster porn or LARPing, but I do know it's a very bad idea.
Given that Texas is a prefered homestead for many gun fetishists and self-styled members of the Rambo family eager to become a so-called "good guy with a gun," what are the potential consequences of staging a fake mass shooting in a public area where not everyone will necessarily know it's fake?
How will emergency services respond to the situation? How will they respond if there's a real shooting during a fake shooting?
In any event, what is the purpose of this fake mass shooting? What do they hope to accomplish by staging it?
