Talking Points

(Cartoonist - Nick Anderson)

In other news, the city of Ferguson, Missouri has refused to comply with some of the Justice Department's demands for reform, opening up the city to a federal lawsuit.

The St. Louis Tribune, meanwhile, speculates that city officials will take that chance and risk a federal lawsuit because President Trump would likely abandon it.

As the debate over the decree has unfolded, one suggestion is to take a gamble on this year’s presidential election, allowing the Justice Department to sue with the hope a new administration abandons the litigation.

That's just about as cynical as it gets.

Finally, the airline industry is lobbying Congress to make flying even more expensive by lifting the cap on fees airlines can pass down to customers.

Update... the Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Ferguson in the US District Court in St. Louis.
