In other news, Republicans pushed Tom Price and Steve Mnuchin through committee confirmation this morning by suspending the rules and voting without any Democrats present.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Joe Biden has endorsed former Labor Secretary Tom Perez for DNC chairman.

Finally, this seems like a really terrible, horrible, no good idea.

Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn will re-team to star in “Dragged Across Concrete,” a crime thriller about police brutality directed by “Bone Tomahawk” filmmaker S. Craig Zahler.

Gibson and Vaughn will play cops who are suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics gets wide attention. They then descend into the criminal underworld to exact vengeance.

That last one is a joke, right? It MUST be a joke! Oh hell, what am I saying. In this crazy state of the world, it is probably on the level. All I can think of though was when Meryl Streep made her graceful speech against Trump at the Golden Globes and the camera briefly shot to Gibson and Vaughn sitting together at a table. Gibson looking manic and antsy, as though he did not quite know where he was, and Vaughn casting a beady-eyed glare at Streep/the camera.

Hmmm…I bet the cast will be rounded out by Kelsey Grammer, Patricia Heaton, Kevin Sorbo, Scott Baio, Antonio Sabato, Jr., with a Special Guest Appearance by Jon Voight. Music to be scored by Ted Nugent.

Given the political direction that Vaughn seems to lean and everything we know about Gibson this movie could turn out to be a teal nightmare.

They’re both white supremacists, so yeah. They’re big fans of Vaughn over on the neo-nazi websites like Stormfront.

        Stormfront? Really?!? Ewwwww….

Ewwww…I knew he leaned conservative but I had no idea. That is disappointing.

It is disappointing for anyone to lean so conservative that they attract flocks of white supremacists, but in Vaughn’s case that might be the only relevancy he has. I never understood his celebrity at all. I thought he was criminally overrated in his breakout role in Swingers and he parlayed that into a career of playing shlubby non-entities in less and less funny “comedies”. I personally think there should be a ban in Hollywood that prevents Vaughn and Owen Wilson from ever working together. And let’s not even get into when he tries his hand at drama. Not sure what is worse: his dead-eyed turn in The Lost World, his energy-sucking performance from Season 2 of True Detective, his manic overacting in Clay Pigeons or The Locusts. No, I think his worst dramatic turn may have been desecrating Anthony Perkins’ memory as the most unconvincing and tragically miscast Norman Bates in history. Yes, his fandom to neo-Nazis may be his sole reason for being at this point.

I liked him in “Swingers,” “Clay Pigeons,” and “The Cell.”

Good lord was he awful in “True Detective.”

More blood sport from Mel Gibson.
