Clinging to Guns and Religion

State lawmakers in Florida voted to kill a measure that would have resurrected the ban on assault weapons and voted to pass a resolution designating pornography as a "public health risk," but don't get the idea that they've done nothing about gun violence.

You see, they also voted to bring back God.

State representative Kim Daniels (D-Jacksonville) sponsored a bill that would require schools to display the state motto "In God We Trust" in a highly visible location.

"He is not a Republican or a Democrat. He is not black or white," Daniels said. "He is the light, and our schools need light in them like never before."

She spoke directly of the school shooting, and said it's no secret that the state has "gun issues" that must be addressed.

"But the real thing that needs to be addressed are issues of the heart," Daniels said.

No.

I said this after the shooting last week: generation Z will have a record of number of atheists because Republicans prayed while they got shot up in school.

In this case we can thank a local Democrat for praying the guns away, but the point stands. I think the next generation is sick to death of hearing "thoughts and prayers" on a weekly basis. Their sustained protest in front of capital buildings across the country proves it.

I'm sick of hearing it, too, for that matter. Fuck your prayers.
