Clinging to Guns and Religion

Dear Mr. Buchanan,

In your October 20 column, you detail the plight of "traditional Americans" and how they're worried about their guns, their Christian religion and illegal immigration. These "traditional Americans" are afraid of losing "their country."

First, the country doesn't belong to them and them alone. Secondly, didn't you, Pat, have serious gripes about President Obama's remarks on the campaign trail last year: "So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." Strange that you're actually repeating this idea, Pat, considering how pissed you were about it at the time.

The difference between you and the president is that he never distinguished these people as "traditional Americans." You did. And I'd be interested to hear you on MSNBC clarify why these are "traditional Americans" as opposed to the rest of us.

Sincerely,
Bob

PS. America isn't going to be a white nation for much longer. Sorry, Pat!
