While some doubted that he would actually do it, former Grand Wizard of the Klan David Duke announced his candidacy for the United States Senate this morning.
“I’m proud to announce my candidacy for the United States Senate,” Duke said in a video. “I believe in equal rights for all and respect for all Americans. However, what makes me different is I also demand respect for the rights and heritage of European Americans.”
Duke said in the video, “I’m overjoyed to see Donald Trump and most Americans embrace most of the issues that I’ve championed for years. My slogan remains America first.”
As you might have suspected, Duke loved the dystopian nightmare speech Trump delivered last night at the GOP convention.
Duke is running as a Republican to replace David Vitter.
Does he have a chance to win? I have no idea, but he will appear on the ticket underneath Donald Trump this November if he defeats his primary opponents. That almost certainly improves his chances.
