Democrats Bypass Benghazi Committee Leadership, Release Private Testimony

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's admission that the Select Benghazi Committee is a political animal which he credits for hurting Hillary Clinton's poll numbers has given Democrats on the committee all the ammunition they need to take matters into their own hands.

I regret that it took this long, but it appears Democrats on the Bullshit Committee are prepared to go above Chairman Trey Gowdy's head and release documents that have been withheld from the public.

Democrats on the committee announced their intentions today in a letter addressed to the Chairman Gowdy.

Democrats on the committee are taking steps to release interview transcripts because there's no justification for keeping them secret.

As you're probably aware, there's a years-long, documented history of congressional Republicans -- from former Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa to Benghazi Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy -- selectively leaking partial transcripts to the media with the intention of making it appear as though something damning if not criminal was revealed.

House Republicans have denied a number of requests for giving public testimony in favor of private interviews and I necessarily infer that they've done so to facilitate these selective, misleading leaks.

If Democrats release unclassified yet still secretive transcripts to the public, there will be no more opportunities for selectively leaking misleading soundbites and snippets of testimony.

The document embedded above includes testimony from former State Department Chief of Staff Cherly Mills which paints former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's response to the attack in a far more positive light than Republicans are comfortable admitting.

I think we know why this was kept from the public.
