I've been a little guarded about declaring any sort of broad, long-term Democratic victory since the recent electoral failures of the Republican Party.
Public opinion regarding the Republicans, despite all of their crazy, is much more resilient. Much of this has to do with the deference and positive attention they receive from the corporate media (see also the "liberal network" MSNBC's handling of Liz Cheney, Pat Buchanan and others).
I have no other explanation for why, in the latest Gallup poll, Dick Cheney is faring better than Nancy Pelosi.
