Abortion Lying Liars War On Women

Does Carly Fiorina Know What a “Fact” Is? Apparently not.

More than perhaps any other single person, GOP presidential candidate and disgraced CEO Carly Fiorina has promoted the idea that Planned Parenthood operates a black market for fetuses.

Fiorina told an audience of millions of people during a Republican primary debate that she watched a video of a "fully formed fetus on the table, it's heart beating, it's legs kicking while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain."

Fiorina also recently hijacked a pre-school field trip and used 4-year-olds as campaign props for a speech about Planned Parenthood's side business of selling body parts.

Now that the progenitors of the anti-Planned Parenthood videos that kicked off the entire campaign against the organization have been indicted in Texas, Fiorina says you can't trust our justice system because Hillary Clinton hasn't been indicted.

Wait, what?

Fiorina was asked on Fox News' "Happening Now" about Monday's indictment of the two anti-abortion activists who made heavily-doctored sting videos alleging that Planned Parenthood sold fetal tissue for profit. [...]

"It doesn't change the facts," Fiorina said. "You know, look, Hillary Clinton hasn't been indicted either so what does that say about our justice system."

Harris County, Texas District Attorney Devon Anderson made it very clear when the indictment was announced that his office and the grand jury went 'where the evidence led them.'

The evidence. The facts.

I suppose Fiorina is correct in saying the facts haven't changed, but the facts are not what she claims they are.

It's easier for me now more than than ever to understand how a CEO can be responsible for ruining the lives of tens of thousands of people and still deny it. Carly Fiorina is a lying sociopath and I suspect many of her ilk are as well.

…while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.

I can’t believe I hadn’t noticed that bit before. Fiorina thinks Planned Parenthood is doing brain transplants?

Maybe it’s just wishful thinking on her part. Maybe she’s hoping someday she’ll get one that works.

Of course she doesn’t know what a fact is! She is still laboring under the delusion that she was a stellar businesswoman and CEO.

She must have been a good CEO, in her estimation, because she made (not earned) a lot of money! That’s the true measure of someone’s worth, innit?

You have to remember: Conservative normative beliefs are unassailable; what they “know” to be true, is true. If the “facts” don’t support those beliefs and/or appear to point in the opposite direction, then those “facts” must, by definition, be wrong, incomplete, or a deliberate deception.

“Hillary Clinton hasn’t been indicted either so what does that say about our justice system[?]”

Apparently, it says that “our justice system” has not yet caught up to the narrative; it has failed, thus far, to validate conservative prejudices. “Hillary Clinton hasn’t been indicted” because “our justice system” is wrong, incompetent, or deliberately dishonest.

Fiorina has promoted the idea that Planned Parenthood operates a black market for fetuses.

As the author(s) of my new favorite conservative blog would say, “Small minds discuss facts; great minds discuss ideas.” The “idea that Planned Parenthood operates a black market for fetuses” is more important than the fact that it doesn’t. And believing the former is somehow more admirable than knowing the latter. Conservatives find the former believable; that’s all they need. Even if these videos don’t prove it, the proof is still out there, waiting to be found, always under the next rock.

I wrote about this on Daily Kos recently. I traced it back to Sen. John Kyl’s infamous “not intended to be a factual statement” in 2011. Conservatives and Republicans, more and more, are openly and explicitly dismissing and excusing their obvious lies, always telling us that the facts are not important because the “idea” is more important — and unassailably correct.

I’m still waiting for someone, anyone, to ask Ms. Fiorina (or anyone else), if Planned Parenthood is “selling body parts,” who is buying them? There must be a market for them; who else is involved? Why is no one naming, exposing or pursuing the buyers?

I’ve read comments by people who worked for Hewlett Packard during Carly Fiorina’s time as CEO and—even setting aside the inherent self-selection—their stories indicate that she didn’t really care about reality then, either.

I’m not sure if this trait makes her a sociopathic liar or merely someone so certain of her own rightness she can’t be bothered with mere facts. I am sure she doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously.
