Does Donald Trump Even Want to Be President? He’ll Get Back to You.

Donald Trump Presidential Announcement

If it were anyone else we could safely assume they were joking, but when you're dealing with Donald Trump there's no way to be sure.

Trump was asked if he would actually serve as president if elected and his immediate response was not 'yes.'

Presented in a recent interview with a scenario, floating around the political ether, in which the presumptive Republican nominee proves all the naysayers wrong, beats Hillary Clinton and wins the presidency, only to forgo the office as the ultimate walk-off winner, Mr. Trump flashed a mischievous smile.

I’ll let you know how I feel about it after it happens,” he said, minutes before leaving his Trump Tower office to fly to a campaign rally in New Hampshire.

The idea of Trump abruptly quitting is equal parts insane and plausible, much like the rest of his existence.

We already know Trump has plans in the works to develop his own Trump-brand alternative to Fox News that he would sell to his voters in the likely event that he loses. We can't rule out the possibility of that being his ultimate goal even if he somehow wins.

I don't think we need to worry about him quitting after he wins because he won't get that close, but the Trump News Channel could be very real.

If anyone ever thought Donald Trump was a serious person with serious presidential ambitions … well, you should seek help from a qualified brain care specialist, but this story proves those beliefs to be the political equivalent of phlogiston: somewhat plausible but very, very wrong.

As long as it’s not Ben Carson.

Crikey, I hadn’t thought of that. Point taken.

Christ. A TV channel? Hasn’t he inflicted himself on the country enough already?

In 1965, Conservative icon (and insufferable racist & snob) William F. Buckley ran for the mayor’s office New York City. He did this strictly as a way of getting his issues talked about. When asked what he would do if he won he responded “Demand a recount.” I doubt we are ever going to get that level of candor from Trump.

I have wondered whether he might take his ball and go home in mid-campaign. If Hillary is obviously trouncing him and Warren/Obama/Biden are mocking him mercilessly. And then what? Republicans left high and dry with no candidate — what on earth could/should they do?

I guess we’ll see what happens.

The Mainstream Media™, which lives off of Donald Drumph’s dangerous ignorance and stupidity will definitely have a say in that and do whatever it takes to see to it they get their precious horserace. Even if it means Drumph becomes Supreme Overlord United States President.
