End of the Road

(Cartoonist - Joel Pett)

In other news, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has officially designated the month of April as "Confederate Heritage Month." Let your racist freak flag fly.

Meanwhile, Trump says he wouldn't accept the endorsement of "penguin" Mitt Romney even if he offered it. I guess that settles it.

And finally, the CDC says doctors found "brain abnormalities" in the fetus of one woman who had an abortion after being infected with the Zika virus, and that's not all.

The CDC announced for the first time that it has been tracking nine pregnant women in the U.S. whose Zika virus infection has been confirmed. Two of those women suffered miscarriages and two opted for abortions. [...]

Three of those women have since gave birth, one of whom delivered a child with severe microcephaly, a birth condition that causes babies to be born with abnormally small heads.

This is just beginning. I can scarcely the imagine physical and emotional toll this virus could take during the peak Mosquito season of the warm Summer months and following the Olympics.

Meanwhile, our GOP congress has refused to do anything about it.

Sleep tight! Have a good weekend.

Yesterday a Trump supporter wrote the following on another site, which I think is probably the best encapsulation of why Trump’s supporters support Trump, and why Republican voters vote Republican, that I have ever read anywhere, ever:

Trump may well screw us…but we know he will screw you.

That’s almost better than the time a commenter on NRO wrote, without a trace of irony, “I vote Republican because I feel I have been victimized by American society.”

    More here.

“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.” — Lyndon B. Johnson, 1960, remark to Bill Moyers, “What a Real President Was Like,” Washington Post, November 13, 1988

BTW, hope you screengrabbed that Trump quote. You’ll be referencing it often; save it for posterity.

But according to conspiracy theories, it’s really Monsanto’s vaccine that’s responsible for the abnormalities, not the Zika virus!

In all seriousness, Zika is a serious concern. We do need to do something about it, but guess who’s in charge of both houses of Congress now? Yep, you guessed correctly. And no, it’s not the Democrats.

If I’m not mistaken it’s The Party of Limited Government™, Personal Responsibility®, and Family Values©.

      God help us all.

Well it’s your personal responsibility to ensure that you don’t get Zika – and if you do get it, it’s your personal responsibility to develop a cure.

(and don’t you DARE come to the government asking for funding – take some personal responsibility!)
