In other news, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) says up to 30 million Americans will owe more taxes next year because their employers withheld less than they will actually owe under the GOP's tax code.

We are great yet?

Meanwhile, 11 more states including California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia have joined the lawsuit against the Trump regime's decision to allow people to download blueprints for 3D-printed guns.

Finally, diplomatic sources who spoke to Buzzfeed News say the White House and State Department are straight up ignoring Trump's tweets if they aren't accompanied by official directives.

“The White House and State Dept. are actively ignoring the tweets of the president,” one of the sources said. “It's like there's a reality TV president, in his own bubble, thinking he controls stuff. It's like The Truman Show.”

Here are some other stories I didn't get to this week:

The final investigative report of the Las Vegas shooting that killed 58 and wounded over 800 found no definitive motive for the shooting, but it does say the gunman lost $1.5 million while gambling in the years prior to the shooting. He also spent $95,000 on guns, which seems insane by itself.

To finance the GOP's fiscal recklessness, the Treasury will borrow the highest amount of money since the 2008 crash to fund the government.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says Trump's next round of tariffs on Chinese goods won't be "cataclysmic," so I guess everything is fine.

Former Ohio State University wrestlers say Rep. Jim Jordan contacted another former coach who contacted the wrestlers and asked them to recant their stories. Jim Jordan is a piece of shit who only cares about his own political ambitions.

NASA has selected the first crew who will blast off in commercial spacecraft built by Boeing and SpaceX next year.

RNC chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel is attacking the Koch Brothers now because they won't support Trump's trade war.

The so-called "Manhattam Madam" Kristin Davis has reportedly met with special prosecutor Robert Mueller's team for reasons that are unknown but it may concern Trump's longtime henchman Roger Stone.

Trump's New York hotel apparently saw its first good business in years thanks to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and his ridiculous entourage.

The State Department says they expect North Korea to uphold the promises they never made and abide by the terms of the non-binding, fake agreement Kim Jong-un signed with Trump.

North Korea has returned the remains of American soldiers killed during the Korean War, or did they? Officials who spoke to the Associated Press say they returned boxes of bones accompanied by just one dog tag and it could take years to identify any of the remains. And they may not be Americans.

The official did not know details about the single dog tag, including the name on it, or whether it was even that of an American military member. During the Korean War, combat troops of 16 other United Nations member countries fought alongside U.S. service members on behalf of South Korea. Some of them, including Australia, Belgium, France and the Philippines, have yet to recover some of their war dead from North Korea. [...]

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said last week that the return of the 55 boxes was a positive step but not a guarantee that the bones are American.

“We don’t know who’s in those boxes,” he said. He noted that some could turn out to be those of missing from other nations that fought in the Korean War. “They could go to Australia,” he said. “They have missing, France has missing, Americans have. There’s a whole lot of us. So, this is an international effort to bring closure for those families.”

Have a good weekend.

Color me skeptical. The idea that the regime in North Korea would ever have given a flying crap about preserving the remains of foreigners who fought them during the Korean War seems to me highly unlikely.

Am I the only one who finds it depressing that space exploration has been farmed out to the private sector?

I don’t care to comment on the other stuff because it’s all so typical. This one just piqued the Star Trek fan in me.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekends.

To be fair, the relationship between NASA, Boeing, and SpaceX is more of a public-private partnership than a strictly private enterprise. They’ve received grants from NASA. NASA is also still developing their own crew vehicle, but I have to wonder if it will be in danger of being canceled if these other programs work out.

At this point, I’ll take a joint/private exploration program over no program at all.

As much as I’d like to see NASA’s budget doubled or tripled, we have bigger problems to worry about right now.

Rump is reversing everything he can that President Obama accomplished, and to punish America for even electing a black man, Rump wants to punish the 99percent by ruining the economy. He’s using principles known to be detrimental, to leave future administrations with crippling debt and a destroyed government structure meanwhile using “smash and grab” techniques to cut taxes for the one percent. Rump is duping his idiot followers, who he secretly hates, and hopes to bring the entire country down. Why else abandon fuel economy and environmental protections, even going so far as to allow bee killing chemicals back into the marketplace? Can’t everyone see how obvious his hatred is? How obvious his tactics are?

I don’t mean this to be snarky, but you’ve just described the Republican party’s reason for existence.

      • katanahamon

Perhaps, but they’ve never been this openly reckless with the economy and trade..they’ve given up all pretense as a party that represents people, yet from their propaganda you’d never know it..they have cultivated such stupidity and effectively weaponized Fox so as to line their pockets with zero regard for, actually a demonstrated hatred of the American people.

  • katanahamon

I’ve had it..I’m fed up..I’m losing it.. Where is the media to tell the public about the financial hurri-shit-cane the Repubs are brewing up? No, it’s just “Rump tweeted this, Rump tweeted that..” and nothing substantive about how they are destroying America’s future…what the hell is wrong with people???
