Governor Pat McCrory Cries Conspiracy Over the NBA and HB2

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced yesterday that the 2017 All-Star games would be moved from the designated host city of Charlotte, North Carolina because of the anti-gay and anti-transgender "bathroom bill" HB2.

Governor Pat McCrory signed HB2 into law which was passed by the state legislature in a single 12-hour special session with no debate or deliberation.

They built that, as you might say, but wouldn't you know Governor McCrory has found a way to blame someone else for his own mess.

"It is no surprise that the NBA has chosen to politically target North Carolina during an election year since Doug Sosnick, Bill Clinton's former White House Political Director, serves as the NBA's chief political advisor," the campaign said in a Thursday evening statement.

"While it would be front-page news if Karl Rove were advising an organization on how to inflict economic damage on a state to benefit the Republican's election prospects, this is standard operating procedure for the Clintons, who get away with it thanks to their friends in the media," the statement reads.

It probably would be front-page news if Karl Rove had conspired to inflict economic damage on the state of North Carolina, but he hasn't as far as we know and neither have the Clintons.

Strawmen aside, McCrory could have called the legislature back for another special session to amend or repeal the law and appease the NBA and civil rights groups who've filed lawsuits against the state, but he didn't do that.

We would not be discussing this today if McCrory had not signed the bill into law to begin with. He made the state and its most vulnerable residents a target.

Just another day for the party of "personal responsibility."
