He’s Not Wrong

“It is the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police. They didn’t care about how they looked.” -Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) on the Tea Party

The parade of people claiming that “cracker” is just as offensive as slurs aimed at African Americans is as long as you would expect it to be. Because, obviously, Democrats and black people are The Real Racists.

Seriously, don’t read the comments at TPM if you value the image of an America that isn’t mind numbing, obtuse, and foaming at the mouth.

Update… TPM was flooded with bigotry because it was linked by the Drudge Report

Ladies and Gentleman…I give you the heart of GOP electoral power (referring that the TMP comment section).

A legion of the ignorant and scared who will empower a wealthy few and concede to the oligarchy’s demands as long as they are feel socially permitted (if not outright applauded) for bullying, bad mouthing, and oppressing “the other.” They will accept third world standards of living, constant legislative abuse by the oligarchy, and STILL call this the “Greatest of Nations” as long as there is this one group socially and legally underneath them.

I’m gonna take a look, but I’m going in cautiously, like a bucket of something disgusting is about to fall on my head.

I saw a PBS thread this morning about training and employing high school dropouts in the black community, and the comments immediately turned into a disparaging, imbecilic line of soft white power and outright racism, with dozens and dozens of up-votes.

And, for a sign of the times, they just voted off Howard, the black guy on Big Brother– while the insanely racist people in the house will get their shot at a $500,000 payday. So, they didn’t kick out the racists, because they are the majority– they kicked out the person exposing their racism through no fault of his own. Got that? They won’t have him around to remind everyone how racist they are. Done and done. Moral to the story, if black people make white people hostile and angry for no reason, black people are not safe from the cracker horde.

That comment section is one of the most disgusting things I have seen in 25+ years on the internet. From one Drudge link? That much proud ignorance in one place. We are truly fucked as a country.

  • Brutlyhonest

Of course, no white person ever cracked a whip on a black person. That’s because the true believers don’t actually believe non-whites are even people.

I love how the teabagging morons are all about getting rid of political correctness, until someone says “cracker,” that is, then it’s highly offensive and it gives them the right to say the N-word all the time.

Attention white people: nobody chained you up and bought and sold you as property while calling you “cracker.” Nobody forced you to sit elsewhere or use a different bathroom than everybody else while calling you “cracker.” It’s not remotely similar. All this indignation is to pretend that, actually, whites are being discriminated against. Because for people supposedly all about “personal responsibility,” teabaggers love to embody a perpetual state of victimhood.

      Very well said.

Well Ashby, I didn’t take your advice and had a look at some of those comments at TPM.
Holy crap, we have some twisted whack-jobs in this country and they are scared, desperate and not pretty.
I can now see why the republican party needs to rely on white anger throughout their media complex, along with voter suppression, gerrymandering, deceit, dirty tricks, push-polling and outright lies.
I’m gonna take a shower now.

    • Nefercat

      Is it okay if I don’t look? I appreciate your and Ashby’s doing so, but I really don’t want to. I can only handle so much poison. {shudder}

  • missliberties

How about we call these white azz crackers the good old time Nullification Party!
