Is This Suppose to Be a Threat?

Citing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials and internal agency emails, the Washington Post reports that the White House has been pushing a plan to start dumping undocumented immigrants in so-called "sanctuary cities" instead of housing them in federal facilities.

The White House apparently believes this would be a suitably punitive punishment for jurisdictions that don't seem to have a problem with the presence of immigrants.

Trump administration officials have proposed transporting detained immigrants to sanctuary cities at least twice in the past six months — once in November, as a migrant caravan approached the U.S. southern border, and again in February, amid a standoff with Democrats over funding for Trump’s border wall.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco was among those the White House wanted to target, according to DHS officials. The administration also considered releasing detainees in other Democratic strongholds.

I understand that this would strain the resources of cities and local municipalities, and I appreciate that Democratic lawmakers are blasting the proposal, but I don't get it. This does not seem like much of a threat to me.

These cities are sanctuary cities for a reason. They're not afraid of immigrants. They're welcoming to immigrants. That's the whole idea. San Francisco specifically admits some of the highest numbers of immigrants in the country.

This is the kind laser-brained idea that only Trump would figure is a significant threat.

I will punish them by making them very happy!

I think the problem is that the way these people operate, they would strive to make the process as chaotic, disorganized and expensive as possible. Not to mention the funding. Which is the responsibility of all 50 states. Not just a few states. There is a reason that trump cannot compel the sanctuary cities to aid in apprehension and deportation of undocumented immigrants. It is not their constitutional responsibility to do so.
Not that this crowd ever bothered to abide by constitutional norms. Or any others for that matter.

You have to realize in Biff’s twisted brain, all immigrants are MS13, so he thinks he’ll be flooding these cities with violent criminals. The fact that it’s complete bullshit doesn’t enter into his thinking.

This is Donald Trump chucking red meat to his followers, who know that sanctuary cities would become killing fields as soon as the Browns start arriving. Every day that goes by without hordes of illegals! jaywalking or spitting on the sidewalks will be terribly disappointing for them.

I expect we’ve not heard the last of this boneheaded idea.

This is to be expected. Those with no sense of decency think that everyone they meet is just like them. It’s why they’re afraid that everyone is out to get them. Because they themselves wouldn’t hesitate to screw someone over.

Trump is afraid, terrified of immigrants. So naturally he believes everyone else must be, too.

That’s the most reasonable and humane proposal he’s ever come up with for immigrants. Yay, sanctuary cities!

Mind you, it’s “reasonable and humane” only in comparison to all his other proposals, which tend towards “brutal and draconian.”

  • I had exactly the same thought. Bring it! Those cities will find a way to help the immigrants, and if they can’t, the immigrants would be free to travel anywhere in the U.S., as they hoped to in the first place.

    Trump is a moron.
