Is Wilbur Ross a Lizard?

Over 7,700 people have been infected by the deadly Wuhan coronavirus which has now killed at least 170 while spreading to a dozen other countries, but we should look at the bright side according Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

Although the virus is crippling businesses and number of infected now includes at least 5 Americans, Ross says the good news is the virus might help Trump politically.

"Well, first of all, every American's heart has to go out to the victims of the coronavirus. So, I don't want to talk about a victory lap over a very unfortunate, very malignant disease," Ross told Fox Business Network on Thursday. "But the fact is, it does give businesses yet another thing to consider when they go through their review of their supply chain."

"On top of all the other things, you had SARS, you had the African swine virus there, now you have this," Ross continued. "It's another risk factor that people need to take into account. So, I think it will help to accelerate the return of jobs to North America. Some to U.S., probably some to Mexico, as well."

I didn't know we were celebrating the return of jobs to -- checks notes -- Mexico.

In any case, I have my doubts that multinational corporations are going to uproot their entire supply chain and redeploy to Mexico because of a virus outbreak.

Also -- what the fuck?

    Charlie Pierce this morning:

Every now and again, it’s important to remember that almost everyone who works for this administration* is an utter ghoul.

Or, if you prefer, Steve Benen:

For the record, when a sentence begins, “I don’t want to talk about a victory lap over a very malignant disease, but…” that sentence will not and cannot end well.

More than 7700 confirmed cases of the Wuhan coronavirus with 170 deaths in China, and Wilbur Ross can’t help yammering about what a fantastic business opportunity it represents.

“Ghoul” doesn’t begin to describe Ross.

Ross and the rest of the Republicans can now say anything at all, no matter how nonsensical, stupid or blatantly propagandistic. They are turning our government into nothing more than a tool for them to fleece the public. The impeachment is an utter joke, now McConnell signals that he has enough votes to block witnesses. Our government was fought for bitterly, and to see it turned into a joke is depressing beyond belief. Seeing Rump on tv with his smug, smirking and foul rhetoric is bad enough, but to see Dershowitz spouting complete inanities as alleged logical legal argument and being accepted in the Senate is stupefying.

I take unreasonable comfort knowing that trump and McConnell will eventually be dead.

Yes, he is a lizard. I’m sure the Black Plague was great business for corpse collectors and mass grave diggers too. Good times!
