Kevin McCarthy Asks You to Stop “Playing Politics” With His Politics

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy continued his week-long apology tour at a press conference this morning where he accused critics of "playing politics."

“Let’s be very clear: Benghazi is not political,” McCarthy said. “It was created for one purpose and one purpose only: to find the truth on behalf of the families of the four dead Americans. Period.” [...] “The integrity of [committee chairman Rep.] Trey Gowdy, the integrity of the work that has been done has never come into question and it never should be. Stop playing politics,” he added.”

That's the joke.

The man who openly admitted they created the Select Benghazi Committee to tackle an "unbeatable" Hillary Clinton, and then directly credited the committee for sinking her poll numbers, says his opponents need to "stop playing politics."

If Republicans ever stopped playing politics, I don't know what they'd do.

The reason they have spent so much time and government money on attacking Hillary Clinton and the reason they have always attacked her is that they perceive her as a threat to their power. And they may be right about that.

Piece of advice, Kevin. When you’re trying to convince folks of your sincerity, you shouldn’t include an obvious lie right smack in the middle of it.

Bell & Howell didn’t project as much as McCarthey just did.

The integrity of [committee chairman Rep.] Trey Gowdy, the integrity of the work that has been done has never come into question and it never should be.

“The integrity of the work that has been done has never come into question.” For certain, highly-restricted definitions of “integrity,” “work” and “never,” perhaps.

Kevin McCarthy is trying hard not to let what Stephen Colbert called his “iittle white truth” sink his run for Speaker. I predict it won’t work, that at the end of the process he won’t even be part of the House leadership.

    “Stop playing politics,” he added.

    You first.

That’s odd. The link works for me. I just tried it.

Here’s video of the press conference. McCarthy’s comments come at about 30 seconds in.

I can get to the home page and the tabs take me where they’re supposed to, but clicking on stories gives me a white page. I thought my ad blocker might be causing the problem, but excluding National Journal’s domain didn’t fix it. Flash is up to date. I also thought it might be Blur, which blocks web trackers, but I just checked on another Mac not running Blur and got a white page.

The page does load on my iPad (complete with a Phillips advert right in the middle of the screen I can’t make go away), so it’s some weird interaction with Macs but not all Apple products.

        Works for me.
Boner looks and sounds drunk as usual.
Kev baby has the “oh shit, I not going admit I fuck’d up” look on his face.
