McConnell Sounds the Alarm: We Might Have to Be Bipartisan

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has issued a dire warning: if we fail to repeal Obamacare, we might have to actually engage with Democrats!

McConnell reportedly spoke to Trump over the phone and told him they might have to talk to some of their fellow classmates who have cooties, or something.

McConnell delivered a similar warning Monday to Republican senators at his leadership meeting and to top GOP staffers, warning that Democrats will want to retain as much of Obamacare as possible in a bipartisan negotiation, according to Republican aides.

“If we fail, we’re going to be negotiating with [Democratic Leader] Chuck Schumer,” said one Republican staffer.

Trump has repeatedly blasted Democrats for not engaging, but that's obviously a misnomer. Democrats were completely shut out of McConnell's process. Even most Republicans were shut out of McConnell's process.

McConnell doesn't want to work with Democrats because it will divide his own caucus. Trump, on the other hand, doesn't even know what's happening and couldn't care less. He's just a whiny diaper baby sitting on a throne of lies.

Oh Mitch, kindly shut the fuck up…we all know you have no intention of doing anything of the sort. Even if you did want work with Democrats for the healthcare bill, why should they trust anything you have to say or your intentions? You’ve burned so many bridges with your disregard for process, facts, and y’know that pesky thing we call the Constitution that there is no coming back to the mainland from the Island of Eternal Damnation. Now, away with you to rot in a sewage soaked hell.

It’s been said before, but I think it bears repeating: the Rs are discovering that it’s very easy to obstruct, but very difficult to govern when one has no principles beyond “we’re the opposite of the Ds.”

Of course Democrats should not help with this bill. It is a horrible bill. Lice have a higher approval rating among the public than this bill. What McConnell means really is that they might actually have to consider the opinion of the people who, you know, live in this country. We call them ‘Americans’. And it is these ‘Americans’ they want to shut out of any decision making. The Democrats want an open and very public debate about what this law will do so that those ‘Americans’ can object, if they so choose. And quite a lot of them including the American Medical Association and organizations representing hospitals in America do. Go figure.

Off topic: Jordan, I love you and read you every day and I donate and comment and I mean this in a helpful spirit not a mean one (honest!)… but you keep misusing the word “misnomer” and it drives me nuts. A misnomer is when something is called by the wrong NAME. Like, “Calling this a ‘healthcare bill’ is a misnomer — it’s a tax cut for the rich.”

Okay, I’ll shut up now — just needed to get that off my chest. Back to critiquing the horrible “heathcare” bill 🙂

Misnomer: a misapplied or inappropriate designation or name, the act of applying a wrong name or epithet to some person or thing

Calling Democrats “obstructionists,” as Trump has repeatedly, is a misnomer because there’s been nothing available for Democrats to obstruct.

Yes, I understand that I use a liberal interpretation of “misnomer” in some cases. I use it autologically. And I don’t think that’s inappropriate, but I’ll whittle my usage.

God(s) forbid they use the Congress as it was meant to function!

its just an idle threat to try and get GOPers in line to vote yes. Or they will make some cosmetic attempt just to convince voters its the Dems fault -that’s their go-to in times of trouble.

its the Dems fault -that’s their go-to in times of trouble.

      (trying my best here)

When I find myself in times of trouble,
      Mitch McConnell comes to me,
      Speaking words of wisdom
      Blame Chuck-y

      Blame Chucky
      Blame Chucky
      Blame Chucky
      Oh, Blame Chucky
      Pin this on the liberals
      Blame Chucky

And in my hour of darkness,
She is standing right in front of me,
We can blame this all on

      Oh, Pelosi
We can blame this all on

And when the broken hearted poor folk
Can’t afford to see a doc
      There will be an answer
      Blame Barrack!

      Blame Barrack!
      Blame Barrack!
      Blame Barrack!
      Oh, blame Barrack!
We can pin this all on

Oh sure, we could try crafting a bill
That gives the poor health care for free
      Why bother, we can blame

      Oh Hillary!
      Benghazi emails!

I wake up to the sound of money
      Rich folks throw at me
      Rob the poor blind
      And give
      It to me

      Give to me
      Give to me
      Give to me
      Oh, give to me
      Rob the poor blind
      And give
      It to me

Who care if some bankrupt S-O-B
      Dies of Hep’titis C
      He can’t donate to me
      I don’t represent him
      Not really

      Go away
      Just f***k off
      You’re not rich
      I do not care
      Only wealthy donors
      Get my votes

So we’ll take Medicare and Medicaid
And give tax cuts to billionaires
And when the poor folks notice
      Blame Bill Ayers!
