Trump Regime

Michael Flynn Was a Very Busy Crook

Written by SK Ashby

Former Trump adviser Michael Flynn is under investigation and suspected of many things, from acting as an unregistered foreign agent for multiple countries to crafting a plot to kidnap and extradite a Turkish man living in Pennsylvania.

In addition to those activities, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Flynn was also producing a documentary on Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen (the man he wanted to kidnap) with a fellow member of Trump's transition team.

Specifically at question, in addition to Flynn’s contacts with Russia during the 2016 election, is Flynn’s company’s $530,000 contract with a Turkish businessman with ties to the country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Flynn and business partner Bijan Kian worked for the businessman, Ekim Alptekin, on anti-Gulen material including a documentary while Flynn also worked for Trump’s presidential campaign.

Flynn published an op-ed on Election Day echoing the Turkish president’s position on Gulen. Following the election, Kian joined Flynn on Trump’s national security transition team.

Special prosecutor Robert Mueller is reportedly investigating all of the above mentioned accusations against Flynn and there's good reason to believe Flynn will be indicted on numerous charges including his work as an unregistered foreign agent. Charges for acting as an unregistered foreign agent are inexplicably rare, but former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was just recently indicted for that among other things.

Flynn led a "lock her up" chant at the GOP convention in 2016 and he was acting as a foreign agent at the time. Actually, from what we know of his various activities, it seems his appearance at the convention and his role in the Trump campaign and regime were second-fiddle to his jobs as an agent for Turkey and Russia. It's hard to imagine how he found time for anything else between his various schemes from the kidnapping plot to his lobbying for a Russian nuclear energy deal in the Middle East.

We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that Trump's top national security adviser was literally a foreign agent.
