In other news, Vanity Fair scored the most subscriptions in a single day ever after despot-elect Donald Trump attacked them on Twitter over a critical review of Trump Grill.

A note for all the editors out there: attack Trump or his properties and he'll reward you with free publicity. His narcissism demands it. This may actually be how we defeat Trumpism.

Meanwhile, former governor and possible secretary of energy Rick Perry apparently received very poor grades in chemistry and physics in college. Perry also received a D in "Meats" class. Insert your own lewd jokes here.

Finally, here's my brief, spoiler-free review of Rogue One.

Unlike most movies, I believe it would have benefited from being a little longer to allow for more time with each main character. The opening act of the movie proceeds a little too quickly to establish a strong emotional connection to some of the new characters.

With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't have a problem with a certain digitally-recreated character or the presence of other familiar characters. Vader's final scene was awesome. The whole film was beautifully shot and the final 45 minutes of the movie are spectacular. What wasn't spectacular was the 5 degree weather last night. No amount of beer can make you immune to that.

This has been my antidote today.

    Thanks, Ashby.

And I also saw Rogue One and loved it, flaws and all. The last 1/3 of the film was incredible, and also seeing–nah, not dropping spoilers here!

And even though this film was conceived and filmed months ago….it felt very relevant to the times we are now in, and what we are going to face. Of course, Trump is no Palpatine–hell, he’s no Krennic–but like the Rebels, we have to get our act together and find effective ways to hit back.

Also loved the “easter eggs” in the movie too.

Like Bob & Chez said earlier this week, Trump is basically a malevolent Jar Jar.

      • Scopedog

I actually think that Jar Jar is miles ahead of Trump….

….and Jar Jar was legally elected to the Senate. 🙂

…and then voted to hand the Republic to Palpatine.

…but before all that he stepped in the poopy.

I’ve been stewing on much the same idea for the last couple of weeks. Right now a lot of political actors are stepping gingerly around Trump and a lot of Republicans are acting like he is coated in teflon because of how he beat the odds on November 8th.

But none of that voids the facts that: (1) he lost the popular vote margin by more than any other “winner” in U.S. history and (2) he is coming into office with quite possibly the lowest ratings of a new President ever.

The truth is that Trump is *very* unpopular. Getting on his bad side, far from being a death sentence, could actually be the best thing any of us could hope for.
