Government Shutdown Open Thread Supreme Court

No Consequences

In other news, the Supreme Court has chosen to take another shot at killing Obamacare by agreeing to hear King v. Burwell; a lawsuit based on word choice.

Meanwhile, published conspiracy theorist and White House critic Sharyl Attkisson partied with Grand Inquisitor Darrell Issa last night. See how non-partisan she is?

It’s Friday and I think we all need a shot of something.

…is the GOP really gonna take a stand and say FU to all the people getting health care now.

…dropping all the regulations/incentives to control costs is going to be a
huge shock to the system maybe even enough to start another recession.

It would be interesting to see if millions of pissed off voices in red states…

Seriously? Do you really think the GOP actually gives a shit about all this?

    Besides:

…they will be able to make it all Obama’s fault anyway so…

    …no problem.

Anyone else wanna bet that the Supreme Court will torpedo Obamacare in this case, once and for all?

The right will not be happy until the ACA is destroyed, once and for all. They might just get it this time around.

It’s tricky. When Scott Brown was elected the D’s passed the Draft of the Legislation, which is why the wording can be read by partisan judges as unclear.

IF the SC decides that the Federal subsidies go only to the states that have the exchanges, is the GOP really gonna take a stand and say FU to all the people getting health care now.

Of note, this will not effect the states that have implemented the State Exchanges.

The divisive class riff this would create would surely be the re-enactment of the Civil War.

If it happens, I’d be very interested in the economic, then political, fallout. Tossing millions of Americans off expanded Medicare, parents insurance, etc.; dropping all the regulations/incentives to control costs is going to be a huge shock to the system maybe even enough to start another recession. But it won’t hurt Koch Brother et al.’s net worth and they will be able to make it all Obama’s fault anyway so…

American is probably as close as it has even been to being the greatest, modern Third World Country on the planet.

“American is probably as close as it has even been to being the greatest, modern Third World Country on the planet.”

And sadly, we, as its citizens, could have prevented this….but many of us did not.

    • Very possibly. It would certainly be “interesting” to watch. By the time this case is heard, we’ll be through the second enrollment period which means millions more will be getting insurance. If the SC screws the pooch here, Congress could fix the problem with a very simple bill. It would be interesting to see if millions of pissed off voices in red states could convince the Republican congress to save Obamacare. Probably not.

I certainly don’t want this to happen, but man would there be a huge scream of protest.
