A federal judge ordered several counties to restore the registration of thousands of black voters who were illegally purged from the rolls, but the totality of the state GOP's efforts have suppressed black turnout.

To celebrate this, the North Carolina GOP issued a press release this morning to brag about it.

North Carolina Obama Coalition Crumbling

African American Early Voting is down 8.5% from this time in 2012.

Caucasian voters early voting is up 22.5% from this time in 2012.

As a share of Early Voters, African Americans are down 6.0%, (2012: 28.9%, 2016: 22.9%) and Caucasians are up 4.2%, (2012: 65.8%, 2016: 70.0%).

They aren't trying to hide it. They're proud that they've successfully suppressed turnout and discouraged or disqualified people from exercising a constitutional right.

In spite of their efforts to suppress Democratic voters, Clinton appears poised to win North Carolina and state Attorney General Rory Cooper is in position to defeat Governor Pat McCrory.

A political party which must rely on voter suppression and disenfranchisement to win elections is a party which cannot—or at least should not—long survive.

The GOP embraces painfully obvious Jim Crow tactics to win statewide elections in red state after red state and the national media spends years obsessing over Goddamned E-Mails!

The Liberal Media™ at it’s finest.

  • I don’t want to get my hopes up only to have them dashed. But it definitely looks like Arpaio will be voted off the island tomorrow! And if NC goes for Hillary with McCrory out, that would be very sweet.

It’s about damn’ time Joe Arpaio got voted out.

      • A-effing-men! And it took criminal charges to be filed before Maricopa County voters could quit him. His loss alone is worth a bottle of champagne.

So hoping all of the positions go blue in NC. McCrory, Burr, even the state General Assembly. All of them need to GO!
