Republican Party

Not a Defense of Michael Steele

Michael Steele is an idiot. His remarks about Afghanistan were such a phenomenal train wreck, they'll definitely go down among the great Republican episodes of modern day dumbstupid.

But Michael Steele isn't an outlier.

The Republicans Party is loaded similarly contradictory, backwards and unapologetically ignorant stupids.

Rush Limbaugh, the party's de facto leader, is a serial racist.

Sarah Palin, the party's lead endorser and likely nominee in 2012, couldn't accurately describe the role of the vice president -- while running to take over that job. She also confused the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Currently, her writing is no better than the grade school notebook scribblings of a pre-teen, steeped in unserious memes like "lamestream." The list goes on and on and on with this one.

Haley Barbour can't decide whether the oil spill is delicious and chocolately, or a tragedy that requires redistributed federal help.

Texas governor Rick Perry wants to secede from the Union. A treasonous act, and one that previously resulted in the deaths of 600,000 Americans.

Senator Tom Coburn keeps popping up on television to tell whoever will listen that we need to cut spending and reduce the debt -- or else. He, and every single one of his GOP colleagues, voted to continue paying $35 billion in corporate welfare to Big Oil in the midst of the biggest environmental disaster in American history.

Do I even need to get into Michele Bachmann, Steve King, Sharron Angle, JD Hayworth, Marco Rubio, David Vitter, Mark Sanford, James Inhofe, and newcomers Pamela Gorman, Dale Peterson and Rick Barber?

Michael Steele is perfectly indicative of a ridiculous joke of a political party -- a party that in no way deserves to be taken seriously. If Michael Steele has to resign, the party needs to shitcan a variety of other offenders as well.

Adding... I can't believe I have to clarify this, but here's the specific comment from Michael Steele:

"Keep in mind again, federal candidates, this was a war of Obama’s choosing. This is not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in." Michael Steele
