Obama’s Fault

Written by SK Ashby

It's 2018 but Republicans are still finding new and creative ways to blame President Obama for their own behavior.

Following reports that a former staffer has accused him of sexual harassment, Representative Patrick Meehan (R-PA) has admitted that he propositioned and scolded her when she refused, but he says it was all about Obamacare.

In an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer on Tuesday — Meehan’s first lengthy response to the New York Times report — the four-term congressman denied engaging in harassment. He acknowledged lashing out when he learned the aide had started seriously dating someone outside his congressional office, attributing his reaction to the stress of a debate over repealing the Affordable Care Act.

I started to talk to her about my reaction to [her relationship] and you know, selfishly I was thinking about what this was going to mean to me,” he told the Inquirer, adding that he “should have been looking at it from the perspective of a subordinate and a superior.”

See, if Obamacare never existed, Meehan wouldn't have lashed out at a staffer when she told him she has a boyfriend.

That's just science.

In related news, it's possible Meehan won't even have a seat soon if Pennylsvania's congressional districts are redrawn. The rumor is that local Republicans are currently discussing throwing Meehan under the bus to save themselves in a new map. Six Democrats have lined up to challenge Meehan even if his district survives.
