Republican criticism of Alison Lundergan Grimes, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Democratic challenger, for allegedly not taking a clear position on several issues took a misogynistic turn today as the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (NRSCC) accused her of being an “empty dress.”

“Alison Lundergan Grimes seems incapable of articulating her own thoughts, and faced with questions, either directly parrots the talking points handed to her by [Sen.] Chuck Schumer or she babbles incoherently and stares blankly into the camera as though she’s a freshman in high school struggling to remember the CliffsNotes after forgetting to read her homework assignment,” Dayspring told The Hill.
Get it? She’s an empty dress who acts like a stupid, freshman blonde!
Even if you give the NRSCC the benefit of the doubt and assume that calling her an “empty dress” and saying she’s incapable of doing her homework weren’t intended to be misogynistic, the obvious retort is that Mitch McConnell won’t take a position on important issues either.
McConnell won’t stake out a clear position on holding the federal government hostage to defund Obamacare, much to the dismay of his colleagues, and he hasn’t taken a clear position on Syria.
If you’ve noticed that we haven’t mentioned Mitch McConnell very often lately, it’s because he hasn’t taken a clear position on anything, and he’s the Senate Minority Leader.
