In other news, the Big-10 college football conference, which includes the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin, is reportedly planning to cancel their season as soon as tomorrow. This is politically consequential for a number of reasons, which is why Trump is now screeching about it.

Meanwhile, jobs opening increased in June according to the Labor Department, but the increase is being attributed to people quitting their jobs because they're afraid of getting sick and/or they can't afford child care.

“Perhaps the rise in job openings is less about adding additional workers, but backfilling positions from workers who quit positions due to concerns about the virus, lack of childcare options, or similar reasons,” said Nick Bunker, director of research at Indeed Hiring Lab.

“An increase in quitting is usually a sign of worker confidence in the health of the labor market. Right now, it’s hard to see workers feeling quite so confident with unemployment in the double digits.”

We have very poor child care options in this country. Lots of people have no option.

Finally, China has imposed retaliatory sanctions on Americans including some GOP congressmen.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China imposed sanctions on 11 U.S. citizens including lawmakers from President Donald Trump Republican Party on Monday in response to Washington’s imposition of sanctions on Hong Kong and Chinese officials accused of curtailing political freedoms in the former British colony.

Those targeted were six Republican lawmakers - Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, Josh Hawley and Pat Toomey and Representative Chris Smith - as well as individuals at non-profit and rights groups.

Criticism of China's actions in Hong Kong may be legitimate if a bit hypocritical for Republicans who support Trump's use of federal agents for assaults on protesters but, if you ask me, the world should normalize calling out American politicians by name.

On a personal note, I had a pretty terrible weekend. My computer got fried on Saturday and while I was able to order a new one, let's just say being in the position of taking on more debt came at a very high emotional cost.
