In other news, a restaurant in DC has filed a lawsuit against Trump's Old Post Office hotel, arguing that the presidency gives his business an unfair advantage. No shit.

Meanwhile, 21st Century Fox has settled with former Fox News contributor Tamara Holder who says former network executive Fransico Cortes tried to force her to blow him. Roger Ailes was far from alone.

Finally, Jeff Sessions says Gitmo is a "very fine place" and would not object to filling the prison up again. I believe I casually predicted this a few days ago.

It's 65 degrees but it's suppose to swing over 35 degrees and start snowing over the next 12 hours so my head feels like a bowling ball and I can't stop yawning. I'm going to go sit in silence.

The temperature swings this year in Wisconsin have been ridiculous. And so have the high winds resulting from those pressure swings. In the last week we have gone from around 5o degrees down to the twenties and below and the winds that respond to the affects of temperature on the pressure gradient have been 50-60 miles per hour. 70 miles per hour is hurricane force winds. This is Wisconsin and this winter we have had almost as much rain as snow. And temperature swings that never used to occur here. I don’t need a scientist to tell me the weather patterns are changing here. I have seen them myself for the last couple of decades.

I think GITMO would be a “very fine place” to send someone who commits perjury during his confirmation hearings. I think the current lame defense of his clearly untrue statements as to ever meeting with Russian officials as part of the trump campaign is that he wasn’t asked that question by Senator Franken. Well, no he was not asked that question. But he volunteered that information in response to his question as to how he would respond to evidence that such a meeting had taken place. Under oath, Session made a voluntary statement with the intent to deceive.
    That is perjury.

    • Christopher Foxx

the current lame defense of his clearly untrue statements as to ever meeting with Russian officials as part of the trump campaign is that he wasn’t asked that question

Prosecutor: What would you do if it turns out your friends are criminals?
Witness: I never met the victim, I have no idea who they are.
Evidence turns up that shows Witness met the victim several times.
Witness: You can’t accuse me of perjury because you never asked if I’d met them.

Yeah. That’s not how it works. You’d think the Attorney General would know that.

      • Badgerite

Seriously. And then there were all those meetings by various high level people in the trump campaign with the Russian envoy. The diplomatic corp is always KGB (FSB). That’s why Obama expelled something like thirty people from the Russian diplomatic corp from the US over Hacking-gate.
And when Mike Pence was asked what reason there would be for the trump campaign to meet with Russian officials he simply opined that he “couldn’t think of any reason”. That comment should be edited to include the word legitimate before reason. Mike Pence could not think of any “legitimate reason” for the trump campaign to meet so often with high Russian officials during a presidential campaign. As someone said during the Watergate hearings, one elephant in the room may be a mouse with a glandular condition. But ten elephants in the room are likely to be elephants in the room.

If the Trump Junta is as nuanced in fighting the “War on Terror” as the Bush Administration we’ll once again end up with prisoners who never should have been at Gitmo in the first place and prisoners who are a threat to America who can never be prosecuted because R’s think laws are for “snowflakes.”

Any idiot who is still spouting about how Trump’s going to “Drain the Swamp” should be waterboarded with actual swamp water.

    • KanaW

Oh, he drained the swamp, all right. He just hired everything he found in the sludge at the bottom.

21st Century Fox has settled with former Fox News contributor Tamara Holder who says former network executive Fransico Cortes tried to force her to blow him.

I’m typically very sympathetic to the victims of sexually harassment. But as with the prior complainants from Fox, I don’t at all feel for those who choose to assist an organization as it deliberately focused on harming other people when they then get harmed by that organization themselves.

    • Aynwrong

Exactly. Given how Fox pundits typically treat victims of sexual harassment and the very idea of sexual harassment itself as some kind of “political correctness” it’s difficult not to view this in a very jaded light.
