Rand Paul Admits War With Iran Wouldn’t Work, Would Support it Anyway

Republican presidential candidate and supposed libertarian Rand Paul (R-KY) told right wing radio host Mark Levin that he would support a war with Iran if it came to it, but that's not necessarily what sticks out to me.

We grown accustomed to Rand Paul taking positions that are seemingly at odds with his past rhetoric and ideology, but Rand son of Ron backed up his support for military action with a prediction that it wouldn't work.

According to Rand, military action could make things worse.

“The decision has to be made, which is the best way to try have, you know, an outcome that is the best outcome. And I think the best outcome — if you were looking at the best outcome from there — if we were to use military force I think we delay a nuclear weaponization but I think ultimately what you end up having is you have situation where there are no more inspections and there may well be a quicker development of a nuclear weapon after that,” Paul stated.

That may sound familiar because the Obama administration has continuously reiterated that military force would behoove Iran to develop a weapon sooner rather than later and, obviously, using military force would negate any hope for diplomacy.

I don't expect Rand Paul will vote for the Iran deal even if he is publicly stating almost exactly what the Obama administration has stated.

It would be out of character for Rand to display that level of integrity.
