Report: Trump Also Angry at His Own Tax Plan

Written by SK Ashby

Trump is mad about a lot of things today. He's mad at Puerto Ricans for asking for help. He's mad at his cabinet for telling him we should honor the Iran deal. He's mad at the media for reporting that Tillerson called him a moron. He's mad at the media for reporting that he wants more nukes.

You can also add his own tax plan to the list.

It appears that someone close to Trump finally told him that repealing the state and local tax deduction could be a significant tax hike for people in blue states (such as his home state of New York) and now he's angry about that, too.

Months after the White House proposed ending a tax break for people in high-tax states, President Donald Trump grew angry when he learned that the change would hurt some middle-income taxpayers, according to two people familiar with his thinking. [...]

Trump’s White House first proposed ending the SALT deduction in April, in a one-page outline of the president’s tax goals. Its repeal is estimated to generate about $1.3 trillion over 10 years, making it an important way to help pay for the business and individual tax-rate cuts Trump and congressional leaders propose.

It’s not clear why the president didn’t know the implications of the SALT deduction for middle-class taxpayers when the plan was released.

I can tell you why he didn't know the implications.

As Secretary of State Rex Tillerson so eloquently put it, Trump is a "fucking moron."

All of this may feel very familiar because Trump also attacked his own health care plan in private when he learned that it was bullshit. But that didn't stop him from promoting it in public. I don't expect it will in this case either, but Trump privately admitting that it has problems will undermine it.
