Report: Trump Moving Ahead With More Tariffs

Bloomberg first reported last night that Trump is moving ahead with another $200 billion in tariffs on imports from China.

According to Bloomberg, we'll see an initial list of products subject to tariffs published at some point this week.

The list could be released as soon as Tuesday, and likely this week, according to the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter isn’t public. The publication of the list starts a weeks-long process that includes a public-comment period and hearings.

Trump last month asked the U.S. Trade Representative’s office to identify $200 billion of Chinese goods that could be hit with 10 percent tariffs. Since then, the president has said his administration could impose duties on virtually all Chinese imports into the U.S.

Industry would be given time to comment on any new levies before they take effect.

The Trump regime has clearly demonstrated that they couldn't give less of a fuck what any industry says about anything so I don't expect the period of public comment will lead to any significant changes. Previous comment periods in the spring did not lead to any significant changes to Trump's initial round of tariffs.

We have a large trade deficit with China because we simply don't export as many things as they do so, at some point, China is going to run out of American-made products to retaliate against. But this won't stop there. Our trade deficit is smaller if you include services, not just goods, and they can retaliate against American services.

Beyond that, who knows where this will end? I believe China should directly sanction Trump and his family. Dissolve Ivanka Trump's Chinese-made clothing brand and cancel their trademarks.

This is what the dipshits voted for. An irrational, proudly ignorant buffoon randomly lashing out at anyone or thing it feels good to lash out at. Immigrants, religious minorities, refugees, the United Nations, NATO, systems of governance that maintained entire economies and prevented world war for nearly a century that they nor he barely comprehend and wouldn’t care about if they did.

I’ve never believed that the GOP was exclusively populated by morons. People like Dick Cheney, Condeleeza Rice and even John Bolton understand the damage being done as well as the cost we’ll eventually pay. But not one of them will oppose this because if there’s one thing the elites of the GOP and rubes of the base have in common it’s the belief that dirty liberals are a far greater enemy than Russians, terrorists or anyone else.

The lack of patriotism is just sickening.

Oh, goody, another round of tariffs. Because this time, China will surrender.

Not understanding the correlation, trump will likely bitch about his 2020 Chinese-made campaign swag costing so much to import.
