Republicans Say They Haven’t Read the Trumpcare Bill They’re Voting For Today [Updated]

Written by SK Ashby

The House will vote on Paul Ryan's Trumpcare bill today, and congressmen and women are debating the bill on the floor of the House chamber live on C-SPAN right now as I type this, but some of them still haven't read it.

The Huffington Post spoke to a group of Republicans, including members of the Freedom Caucus, who say they haven't read the final version of the bill.

[Rep. Mark Amodei (R-NV)] said he hadn’t even had a chance to read the latest changes to the bill, which House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) unveiled on Thursday evening ahead of Friday’s vote. [...]

Rep. Leonard Lance (R-N.J.), another moderate against the bill, also said he hadn’t seen the latest changes, though he didn’t like the sound of the health benefits provision. [...]

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.), a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, a bloc of Republicans that has resisted Ryan’s and President Donald Trump’s pleas to support the bill, also said he hadn’t fully read the new provision. [...]

Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.), another Republican against the bill, said he didn’t consider Thursday night’s changes to be major, but he was still processing them.

Republicans accused Democrats of ramming Obamacare down the the throat of the nation even though it took more than a year to pass it, but some of them haven't even read their own fucking bill. And who could forget that time White House press secretary Sean Spicer boasted that Trumpcare is significantly smaller than Obamacare?

I know the insanity of the Trump regime makes it feel like it's been longer, but Paul Ryan's Trumpcare bill was originally introduced just two and a half weeks ago and the only changes they've made to the bill made it significantly worse.

This is a legislative farce befitting an incoherent political party.

Update... at the very last moment, Paul Ryan's Trumpcare bill has been pulled from consideration. It's dead.
