Election 2012

Romney Spokesman Sununu Didn't Lose His Shpadoinkle…

...He's always been out of his gourd. This time, he went off on the president's patriotism and American-ness.

"I wish this president would learn how to be an American."

It didn't end there. On Fox News Channel:

He has no idea how the American system functions, and we shouldn’t be surprised about that, because he spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something, spent the next set of years in Indonesia, another set of years in Indonesia, and, frankly, when he came to the U.S. he worked as a community organizer, which is a socialized structure, and then got into politics in Chicago.

There it is again -- the ignoramus Republicans trying to pretend that Hawaii isn't an American state. Do I really need to correct the biographical information here? These are all hamfisted versions of Birtherism and the Southern Strategy. They're taking an all-American story and twisting it into a fictional narrative of a guy who, by choice, tried to stay as far away from America as possible. And this is simply not true. He was a kid under the care of his mother, grandparents and stepfather when he lived in Hawaii (it's a state!!!) and Indonesia. From there, he went to college at Occidental (California, also a state) and Columbia, then a JD from Harvard, then worked in Chicago.

Obviously a foreigner.

Here's a "socialized structure" for Sununu: state government, in which Sununu served as governor of New Hampshire, and the federal government, in which Sununu served as White House Chief of Staff. I love hearing about the evils of socialism from guys who received paychecks from taxpayers and who enjoyed government-run healthcare.

Oh hey guess what? The Wikipedia bio on Sununu:

Sununu was born in Havana, Cuba, the son of Victoria and John Saleh Sununu, an international film distributor. He is of Palestinian and Greek descent. His father grew up in Jerusalem and his mother was born in San Salvador, El Salvador.

More American than Uncle Sam himself.

And finally, here's Mitt Romney himself -- you know, the guy with buttloads of cash socked away in foreign offshore accounts:

“Celebrating success instead of attacking it and denigrating making America strong. That’s the right course for the country. His course is extraordinarily foreign.”

Okay, Mr. Foreign Tax Loophole Man.
