Sanity 2020

In other news, tomorrow is the last day of the 2020 election!

This where I would ordinarily share a short roundup of other stories, but honestly there's not much left to share and this is not an ordinary day.

I'm sure most of you have either voted or already have a plan to vote tomorrow but, if you don't, please make a plan to vote. There are many things at stake in this election from gaining control of the coronavirus pandemic to humane immigration policy to fascism itself, but to make it personal for me -- my civil rights are also up for a vote in this election.

Trump's regime has spent the last four years attacking transgender rights and actually succeeded in cases where the executive branch has control. Trump was able to ban new transgender military service. Republicans led by Trump have challenged transgender rights to employment, housing discrimination, access to homeless shelters and everything in between. More recently they've attacked the right for transgender kids to participate in sports. They do not believe people like me have a right to exist.

I've fought through a lot of emotional trauma over the last two years that only a handful of close friends know about. And that's not going to change if Trump wins; I will keep fighting for my own place to live and grow, but I would prefer it if I didn't have to fight. I would rather move forward with my life without the fear that my rights will be attacked by my own government.

I'm not going to make any bold predictions out of superstitious fear that I'll jinx it, but I will have something to say when the dust settles, win or lose.

As promised, I've updated my profile photo.
