Separate But Unequal

(Cartoonist - Kevin Siers)

In other news, one of the guns used in the recent Paris attacks has been traced to an arms dealer in Florida. It's like we're exporting mass shootings.

Meanwhile, the next big bullshit claim against Planned Parenthood has arrived. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has accused Planned Parenthood of disposing of fetuses in landfills.

Yeah. Sounds legit.

Finally, another round of polls are here and nearly 70 percent of GOP voters agree with Trump on banning Muslims. Trump maintains a 20 point lead in a new Reuters/Ipsos national poll. The latest poll of Georgia gives Trump a 27 point lead.

“This investigation shows the need for further work with the Ohio General Assembly to rein in Planned Parenthood, while Gov. John Kasich said.

Completely ignoring the fact that if you “rein in Planned Parenthood” you are no longer “continuing to ensure access to vital health care services for women,”

But since when was healthcare for women ever the point?

Matt Osborne also posted on the Ohio Planned Parenthood story today.

Mike DeWine is going to seek an injunction against Planned Parenthood over the disposal of fetal remains even though (a) DeWine says he believes (not a word often used in a legal context) disposing of fetal remains in a landfill violates Ohio law mandating fetal remains “shall be disposed of in a humane manner”; and (b) Planned Parenthood contracts with companies for the disposal of all medical tissue, including fetal remains, and the companies doing the disposal are not named or implicated (odd, that).

It’s a lot like the initial baby body parts for profit accusation. No one ever asked a simple question like “How much profit is being made?” Or “Wouldn’t this kind of thing turn up on tax records eventually?” Or “Why haven’t there been calls to investigate the companies receiving the fetal tissue? They would be the ones doing purchasing? Wouldn’t it be illegal on both sides of the transaction?” This would of course be beside the point. The only point is to get the accusation made. To issue the blood libel.

I love how the headline and opening sentence in the linked article emphasize the false information:

Ohio AG: Planned Parenthood aborted fetuses end up in landfills
Aborted fetuses from Planned Parenthood clinics in Ohio are ending up being disposed of in landfills, according to an investigation from the state’s attorney general (AG).

They’re reporting a claim, not a fact, and at a bare minimum the opening sentence should have its two parts switched.

Thus does out modern media purposely misreport the news.
