Election 2012

Shocker. Romney Lied About His Binders Full of Women

This was a lie:

And I -- and I went to my staff, and I said, "How come all the people for these jobs are -- are all men." They said, "Well, these are the people that have the qualifications." And I said, "Well, gosh, can't we -- can't we find some -- some women that are also qualified?"

And -- and so we -- we took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our cabinet.

I went to a number of women's groups and said, "Can you help us find folks," and they brought us whole binders full of women.

Nope, nope, nope. He never requested binders full of women. A binder was prepared by an outside group called MassGAP and voluntarily presented to him.

  • A cabinet with binders full of women sounds like something Ed Gein would have in his basement.

I keep thinking of it as a menu.

“Waiter, we’ll start with an appetizer of French Maids, followed with the main course special of East meets West Cowgirl Line Dancers and Asian Baby-Dolls, and end with a dessert of Swedish Bikini Team.”

    Man, Romeny is weirdo.

No, not THAT binder. Romney was referring to the double secret binder his crack research staff cobbled together.

Perhaps Romney was confusing his time as Governor with the super-secret Mormon ceremony where you pick your wives.

    • My first thought was similar. Remember that bed found in the FDLS church in Texas? Women in binders, bound women, get it? Here’s a pic of the bed that the FDLS claimed was used by the groundskeeper (http://texasflds.wordpress.com/2009/04/04/groundskeepers-bed/) .

FLDS says, politely, that you’re looking for this page in error..

Once it gives you that message, go to the address field and remove the final ‘)’. It ended up connected into the hyperlink.

And the picture is major creepy…

In “Big Love” I think they called it “The Joy Book”. It was the book full of pictures of 14 year old mormon girls the old men used to browse for future wives. As soon as he said “binders full of women”, that is what crossed my mind.
You know Romney’s real view of women is probably the same one the church has. “If women have to be in the workplace”…
If it were 100 years ago, Ann would have plenty of sister wives to do the work “the help” does today.

      • They also believe that a woman cannot be redeemed and inherit her own planet unless she is married to a Mormon man in good standing with the church. I.e., she is unclean, sinful, etc by nature. So yeah, Romney thinks of women as “less than” because his religion tells him that they are.

Sorry, but my immediate vision was a mail-order bride catalogue.

The real jaw dropper for me was Romney’s claim that automatic weapons are illegal in the U.S. What the hell?

    • I know, me too. I vaguely recall that they used to be illegal almost everywhere (back in the late 80’s & early 90’s) but my recollection could be limited to PA where I was living at the time. In any case, it was/is very easy to buy one that is set to fire single shot. However, everyone that I knew that had these modified guns would turn around and remove the mod so that it fired auto again. Gun owners know there is no sense in paying out for an AK-47 if you can’t have it work on auto. That’s the whole point. And it’s absolutely insane that the American people can’t even begin to have a conversation on such issues because the minute anyone opens their mouth the NRA swoops in and shuts them up, by hook or by crook. Outlawing automatic weapons will not occur until the NRA is weakened or it’s opposition gets strong enough to counterbalance their influence. It’s that simple.
