While the conservative case against transgender civil rights and access to public bathrooms continues, Texas attorney general and indicted fraudster Ken Paxton is leading another lawsuit against transgender rights.
Five states including Texas have filed a new lawsuit challenging transgender access to healthcare.
In addition to the five states, the plaintiffs include the Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA)and Franciscan Alliance, a Catholic hospital system. According to the complaint, these organizations object to providing services (or even referrals) for transition-related care or providing insurance that covers such care because it violates their religious beliefs.
Essentially, this suit is akin to Hobby Lobby, except it objects to transgender care instead of birth control.
If you're looking for a link between reproductive rights and transgender rights, this is it. In addition to disputing what kind of healthcare women should have access to, these bigots also want to dictate who is or is not a woman.
Texas has been joined in the lawsuit by Wisconsin, Kentucky, Kansas, and Nebraska. As word of it spreads, I assume more states governed by Republicans will follow. Just as they always do, these conservative legal trolls filed the lawsuit in Texas where the chances of finding a favorable ruling are much greater than in other jurisdictions.
Conservative do not want to acknowledge or accept the existence of transgender people so they're trying to litigate them out of existence.
