Something Fishy

(Cartoonist - Adam Zyglis)

In other news, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has concede that they will probably confirm Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court after Trump loses in November. They're going to look really bad no matter what they do.

Meanwhile, Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) says politicians who oppose drilling for oil on public lands are unfit for office. Gardner supports Trump. I don't need to tell you everything Trump has said that makes him unfit.

Finally, Mother Jones has published a look at Trump's modeling agency which has reportedly employed foreign models illegally and instructed them to lie to immigration and customs officials.

There's also this:

Living in the apartment during a sweltering New York summer, Kate picked a top bunk near a street-level window in the hopes of getting a little fresh air. She awoke one morning to something splashing her face. "Oh, maybe it's raining today," she recalled thinking. But when she peered out the window, "I saw the one-eyed monster pissing on me," she said. "There was a bum pissing on my window, splashing me in my Trump Model bed."

That cartoon is a vile defamation of Dr Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant, Beaker. They may not have been the safest people to be around in a lab, but they weren’t stupid.

On a more serious note, Chuck Grassley may be contemplating a lame duck confirmation of Merrick Garland, but the Senate R leadership begs to differ. When push comes to shove (almost typed “shiv,” which is a telling error), it’s Mitch McConnell who determines what happens in the lame duck session, not Farmer Chuck.

I like Garland, but I actually hope they don’t confirm him in the lame duck. I actually hope Obama pulls him as soon as results start pouring in.

Hillary will have a lot more time and bandwidth to nominate someone a little more solidly progressive. I don’t image she will nominate Elizabeth Warren (nor do I think she could get confirmed), but she has 4 (8?) years to get someone solidly left, as opposed to a maybe left-leaning moderate.

Yeah, I kinda feel bad for Garland for being the pawn. You know it is a dream come true to be nominated but, at the same time, he has to know the likelihood he will serve is very slim. And he seems like a decent human being.

The fact that Donald Drumpf had a lead in any state in the U.S. shows that there are a lot of cowards in the “Home of the Brave.”
