In the course of my amateur study of the Civil War, I run into a wide variety of Confederate reenactors. I honestly don't understand what they're doing. I've met reenactors who are genuinely into the idea of "state's rights" and the rebel cause, which is odd, while others just dig the shabby butternut clothing and the camp-out comradery. But this is especially baffling.
That's the Republican South Carolina Senate President Glenn McConnell dressed as a Confederate commander, with a pair of two, errm, slave reenactors.
Utterly baffling. Also, why so hap-hap-happy, senator?
