Good news -- the government probably won't shut down tomorrow night as Trumps says he will sign the government funding bill that doesn't include money for his border wall. But, there's no guarantee it will pass through Congress tonight now that Trump says he intends to ignore it. Everything is stupid.

Bad news -- Trump is also expected to declare a "national emergency" and order the military to build a wall of some description. This is going to be a clusterfuck.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says President Donald Trump has indicated he’s prepared to sign the government funding bill and issue a national emergency on the border.

McConnell said Thursday the Senate will soon vote on the bill that’s needed to avoid a partial federal shutdown Friday.

The comprise measure keeps departments running through the fiscal year but without the $5.7 billion Trump wanted for the border wall with Mexico.

Programming note... I have some important chores and errands to take care of tomorrow and I will be offline. Monday is a federal holiday so we'll be back in action here on Tuesday.

Paul Ryan and the gop were hoping that lowering withholding of taxes would trick people into thinking they actually got a substantial tax cut from the gop when they didn’t. They were hoping this would affect the mid-terms enough to keep them in control of the House. What other reason is there to lower withholding only to slam people with a whopping tax bill at the end of the year? They, the gop, lie a lot. (see ‘death panels’)

In order to bamboozle the public to fund a mega stadium in Las Vegas, Sheldon Adelson first bought the local newspaper. Now, gee, let’s see how this has affected hard hitting local journalism there..

“By Ira Stoll Special to the Review-Journal

Donald Trump just may be our most honest president since Abraham Lincoln.”

Oh, the stadium got approved, by the way.
“By Jeff Mordock – The Washington Times – Sunday, January 14, 2018
Nevada taxpayers shelled out $750 million to build a stadium for the soon-to-be Las Vegas Raiders — and the deal may prevent the state from being able to recoup that money by imposing new taxes on the NFL team.

An unusual provision in the Raiders agreement with the state allows the team, currently playing its final seasons in Oakland, to break the lease and look for another home if Nevada attempts to impose new taxes over the next three decades on the team, stadium, fans or players. That includes visiting teams and fans as well.”

Been to Las Vegas? Think that their schools, infrastructure, hospitals, universities, water storage facilities etc could have used not only that 750 million, but the future tax revenues?

Lindsay Graham has established a new galactic record for hypocrisy. He’s not only defending the ludicrous daily decisions from Rump, now he’s saying there’s a “conspiracy” to remove him from office. Umm..remember the birther movement, espoused by Rump? Remember how a Supreme Court seat was stolen in an unprecedented power grab? Remember the countless episodes of stonewalling and investigations, Lindsay? We must reestablish some form of truth in broadcasting and demand the truth from politicians. This lying is just..completely out of control. The right wing has a full on propaganda network headed by Fox..if we can’t even establish what basic facts are, we can’t survive.

You know, a person of character no matter what anyone ‘had’ on him would not go along with this shizzle. They would simply say, like Bezos did, “Okay, do your worst” and come after the people trying to harm him and harm the country.
One has to consider that this is really who Lindsey Graham is. A Jim Crowe southern apologist that wants power and the limelight and doesn’t really have any commitment to the United States of America or the Constitution.

The good news is that 800,000 federal employees will not go without pay again and neither will federal contractors. The White House recently opposed paying contractors back pay due to the shutdown I hope these businessmen keep in mind which party sat back and did absolutely nothing while they got stiffed.

The bad news is that the fake crisis will now receive a military response that will detract from it’s ability to provide services to uniformed personnel, like proper housing for their families. I hope military personnel keep in mind which party turned it’s back on they and their families.

Mitch McConnell is a sociopathic worm.

    Hope everyone’s enjoying their weekends.

    From Guardian..
“Why is the media showering Howard Schultz with free airtime?
    Robert Reich”

I’ve been asking this as well..far more qualified candidates, yet free airtime given to this spoiler?

    • Badgerite

I think they are trying to pull a ‘trump’ again. Remember the airtime he got for no reason other than rich guy and some stupid reality show. His show sucked, BTW. If that’s ‘business’ I’m a flying Flying Wallenda.
