  • My husband is Native American and he told me that Pocahontas has a negative impression in his tribe and to call someone that is insulting and a racial slur. And the nonsense of how she can’t be because she’s blond….that’s utter horseshit. My blond son supposedly had a great-grandmother on his father’s side who was full Cherokee! I plan to do a DNA test for him so he knows for certain but still after a generation or so, stuff gets all mixed up. But this whole debate touches on a deeper issue for Native Americans. My husband uses this saying occasionally, “White people only use DNA percentages to determine the purity of animals and Native Americans.” Suffice it to say, only Native Americans have the right to say whether the use of Pocahontas is a racial slur or not and they generally do consider it so.

  • It doesn’t matter what happens after O’Keefe’s latest prank is shown to be nonsense.

It’s a close variation on the Standard Yellow Rag Operating Procedure:
Print the stoopid shit on the front page, above the fold.
Wait at least 3 days to see if legit media will give it legs.
Another coupla days after it’s been debunked, bury the non-correcting correction on the 4th page of the Metro Section (or not).

The damage is done, which is what the rubes needed (another article of faith for their “conservative” litany), which is what the Rent Collectors need to keep the gravy train rolling.

It’s a completely fucked up game – an attempt to shape reality by force-fitting it into a scripted fantasy for people who need to believe the shitty things happening to them are happening for reasons other than the fact that they’ve bought into a manufactured bullshit version of the world.

Interesting take on Olbermann. I would not be surprised, given his personal history, if he’s about to be accused of sexual harassment, and is taking himself out right now for the good of the Resistance.

The reason for at least Rump’s mentality of “I deserve it all, I’m being robbed” is that he started out with a big inheritance. Think of the psychology..never being without, never having to worry. I had a friend that married, his mother in law was there visiting, she was very well off..he was paying bills. She asked what he was doing, then said, “well, surely you’re not paying out of your PRINCIPAL???” He said “in this household, ‘principal’ is all there is!’” That says it all…. Health insurance…something weird here as my payment went down..supposedly, the subsidy is going up. I double checked with the agent, she said that was correct, I feel like there will be a giant screwing at some point as how can that possibly be right? I expect to lose coverage at some point. Oh no Bob..DC from Cali?? Yuck….I’d take Cali..good luck, nonetheless!
It would be fantastic to see Rump brought down..we must get back to the rule of law. At this point, I feel we don’t have a president, we don’t have a functioning government. Talking about tribalism and how conservatives believe what they want over the actual facts, that’s exactly how the Berniebros acted during the last election. They blindly accepted the propaganda from Russian interference simply because it bolstered their case, no questions asked, no sources verified.

Ron Johnson will do as he is told. He likes to put on a show. In the end, he will vote for whatever the money wants him to vote for. He is now and has always been bought and paid for. And he will do as they tell him to do. No matter the costs to his constituents or the country.

It would seem that the ill named Veritas Project has been raising money via Amazon’s Smile charities option.
How the hell does that work? And how it that allowed. This guy, O’Keefe, is an ffffffing fraudster. With a police record.
What the FFFFFFF. Joy Reid has the goods on this. Amazon should certainly not allow their site to be used for fraudulent purposes.

    • It’d be a shame if someone reported them to Amazon for using the dreaded s-word*.

Providing their ill-gotten videos for our Rump led government to use isn’t charity? I’m so confused…

Ajit Pai just made the most ridiculous of comments in defense of repealing net neutrality claiming that “getting rid of government authority over the internet is the opposite of authoritarianism” because he claims conservative views can and are blocked by Twitter or Facebook, etc. In order to claim some kind of possible discrimination based on one’s conservative political viewpoint he would have to overlook all of the proliferation of websites and twitter accounts, youtube videos, podcasts, etc. on the internet that are unabashedly ‘conservative’. And he would have to intentionally overlook the the fact that the entities doing the blocking of selected accounts because of complaints or alleged violations of terms of service are actually private companies and not government. And that the repeal of net neutrality would have no effect on this. What it would do is to change the character of the internet from something akin to a public forum to a forum to which access would be determined by money and a network of internet providers. And this would lend itself to suppression of information and debate. In that sense, we are talking authoritarian objectives here.

Once money becomes speech, it becomes the ONLY speech.

      • Badgerite

Wow. Well put and exactly right.

      • katanahamon

Unfortunately, I think it always was..
