Wow. trump is freaking nuts. And the gop is right there with him. They used to be content to viciously attack Democrats who got in their way.
Now they attack anyone, including life long Republicans who have established honorable reputations and careers in law enforcement. Not to mention Vietnam veterans who were decorated for bravery on the battlefield. I begin to see why James Comey was so concerned about not giving the gop any excuse to attack the FBI.
I think his thought in speaking about the investigation of Hilary Clinton’s email was mostly to protect the FBI and the independence and integrity of the FBI and to an attempt to give them some validation without actually having to lie. I knew the the gop would hold funding over his head. But I had no idea how low they were prepared to go to get their grimy disgusting hands on power. Perhaps he did.

Both Bob and Jody mentioned subscribing to the New York Times. As lefties, I would encourage everyone to end your subscription NOW. The NYT has continued to normalize Trump (the word you are looking for is LYING). And how many more profiles of Trump voters in Sisterfuck, Pa.(h/t Driftglass) where they do everything but admit “I voted for Trump because he was a white guy” while couching it in “economic anxiety” do I need to read? No, the couple ofarticlesfor freeis fine, thank you very much!

Pronounced ’10-sing’ 🙂 .. she used to be on tv all the time during OJ trial.

Bob–Thank you for your wonderful imitation of Luca Brasi! Nothing has made me laugh more in weeks–I listened to it about six times!

    • I didn’t plan on doing it, actually. Normally I can do his entire “masculine child” speech to Don Corleone.

    • Don P

You think to yourself that Trump would be the Fredo of the family; but then you look at his three oldest children…

  • I can’t even imagine being Pres. Obama and seeing everything he’s done and all the progress he made being reversed ESPECIALLY with the economy.

Ryan is NO Tip O’Neill–my gawd, the Zombie Eyed Granny Starver is so full of himself.

I’ve got a new name for this Bannon proposal, if it is what Bob says–“Float the crazy balloon”. So they float the crazy balloon and anything Trump does will be considered as less egregious.

I’m not so sure Russia has stuff on the Republicans. I think they just can’t admit they were wrong to support Trump to their base. Their loyalty to party is literally stronger than their loyalty to country. Plus, they’re very prideful and you know what they say about pride going before the Fall. And lets not get into their greed. In the end, I would rather that Russia has stuff on them than think they would put their pride, their party and their base desire for power over the welfare of our country (and the world).

The diGenova’s know who butters their bread. So long as they can make money off the rubes who eat up the Trump BS, they will. However, that doesn’t mean they wanted to represent a President/client who is so uncontrollable. So maybe they showed up looking gross on purpose. That way Trump can turn them down and they don’t have the take the case without alienating the people who watch them. A win-win.

    • jaq

Was thinking the same.. Obviously diGenova is going to keep towing the line, he has no other choice.. Once you become a FOX shill you’re pretty much landlocked, I mean it’s not like there’s going to be a job waiting for you at MSNBC..

  • jaq

Trump has gotten a lot of flack for the diGenova debacle, but can’t honestly say I blame him.. I mean if you’re doing a podcast with your best friend, then ya, wear your pajamas (or don’t), nobody cares.. Obviously Joey isn’t any great beauty, but Trump summoned him after seeing him on TV (and therefore already knew what he looked like), so if his appearance was the deal-breaker then it sounds like it had to be pretty bad… I mean come on, you’re going to the f#@king WHITE HOUSE to interview for the job to advocate for the POTUS on national TV, represent them in front of federal judges/juries, and you can’t be bothered to take 20 minutes to comb your hair, smear on some deodorant, and put on a clean shirt? Can’t believe I’m saying it, but I think I’d be with Trump on this one..

    • I’m betting that diGenova knew how hung up Trump is about appearance and he went to the meeting all gross on purpose. That way he wouldn’t have to say no to the President and Trump would reject him. Gross but brilliant.

      • jaq

That actually makes sense.. I mean all I know is if I was going to the white house (not that I would with a deranged lunatic in there), but if I was just asked to so much as go shine Obama’s shoes, I’d be freaking out having a mental breakdown about what to wear, plucking every stray hair, drinking gallons of mouthwash, not just out of respect for the president, but reverence for the office, the history of the building itself (and I know Bob would too), so this explanation actually sounds like the best theory I’ve heard so far..

  • I know you are but what am I?
  • katanahamon

“They,” the right wingers, don’t care about how history views them, Jody, because they’ve realized they have their own reality..they can completely live insulated within their Fox bubble. That’s the only “history” they care about.

  • katanahamon

This whole “Queen for a day” experiment has revealed the Repubs as greedy, spineless, narcissistic, traitorous cowards completely unable and unwilling to govern or lead. Rump should never, never have been allowed to run. This is their fault. Allowing not only such an inexperienced but unqualified celebrity who had never served in any public office poisoned the entire process. The debates then revealed the media as not just complicit, but willing participants in trashing Hillary and giving Rump free positive coverage while ignoring Rump’s faults and past criminal behavior and stunning unsuitability. As to upcoming elections, just like Rump receiving just the right number in just the right places, the Dems will get screwed again. We’ve seen the corruption, but not the solution yet, and no one can say with any certainty that vote totals are secure in any way. Seems like a website calling someone a liar would be legally actionable by the person being called a liar.

The tweet that preceded the one you quoted was opposite, it was the one saying he was warning Russia to expect big, new, smart missiles, then the one you quoted saying he can’t understand why the relationship is so bad. Complete opposites…he’s obviously insane.

  • jaq

whoa, didn’t know you could be speaker without being elected to congress… i would LOVE to see hilary rise again and become trump’s worst nightmare, but of course the party would whine that clinton, pelosi, etc, are the “old guard”, and we need “new blood’, blah, blah…meanwhile i’m like ya, that’s the POINT, how the f#@k did a lifetime of service/experience become a BAD thing??!!?!

  • Badgerite

Love the Paul Ryan theme song. The GOP has been holding the country back from becoming that “shining city on a hill” for decades now. It is time for them to change or go. They are not the party of Eisenhower or Reagan anymore. Neither would tolerate what we have seen these days as representative of the GOP.

  • Badgerite

As to above picture. Best tweet of the day from Phil Plait@BadAstronomer
“What has twelve thumbs and hates minorities, women, LGBTQ folks, Muslims, poor people, science and the rule of law?”
He left out Brown vs. Board of Education but I guess that’s included in the “rule of law” part.

    • I would assume there are all kinds of genetic deformities in that gawdawful family.

    • katanahamon

      Aren’t ppl? Wouldn’t that be..fourteen thumbs?

      • Badgerite

I just ‘retweet’ them. I don’t explain um.
Phil Plait is a scientist too. Worked on the ‘glasses’ fix for the Hubble Telescope.
