How the Fuck does he know how many of the “protesters” were NOT neo-Nazis? (believe him!) I would truly like an answer to that question! How does he know?????

  • ProudLiberalAlways

Isn’t it ironic? that those claiming to be the ONLY REAL Americans (now) are those who claim familial connection with the only REAL traitors we’ve ever had in this country? Where is Alannis Morrisette when you need a new song?

  • ProudLiberalAlways

He may be right, nobody wants to say anything about the Nonexistent Alt-left, because they don’t exist. Is that really a surprise? I think not! The only place “the Alt-left” exists is in the fevered minds of conservatives and Nazi trolls.

  • ProudLiberalAlways

Note—–I think we should really always, when mentioning the young woman who lost her life on Saturday, as the woman MURDERED by the RW in Charlottesville, in tRump’s name. Let’s call it what it IS. Facts matter!!!!

  • ProudLiberalAlways

Trolling real human beings is the whole and sole reason for Rump’s existence. He’s not a president, he’s barely even human. He’s an A S S. Period.

  • Badgerite

trump called the mother of Heather Heyer on the day of her daughter’s funeral. It is speculation on my part but I would guess that he thought this was a good idea because he believed once he gushed at her she would mention at the service that the ‘president’ called her and that she did not hold him responsible. Or something like that. She was busy and did not take the call ( on the day of her daughter’s funeral – go figure). Subsequently, according to Susan Bro, there were something like 3 desperate calls from his secretaries. His calling her at that time was intentional. And I think calculated to have her say something good about him at the service. I’m guessing. But with trump, that is a distinct possibility.
Why else the “desperate calls from his secretaries.” He miscalculated, as usual. And his greatest miscalculation was bothering to calculate at all in a situation that called for simple empathy and concern. Nothing more.
    Nothing less.

  • On the constant flow of contradictions:
Saying one thing today and then something else tomorrow and then either repeating what he said the first time or coming out with something almost completely different – he’s micro-targeting; same as he did last year during the election, except that now he has the resources of almost the whole Executive Branch at his disposal (plus his regular paycheck from Uncle Vlad).

The various groups and subgroups of “his people” will hear what the Dis-Infotainment Industry custom-fits for each of them, and nothing about the contradictions will reach any of them.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are sitting here – like Charles indicated – reeling from what seems like this barrage of Jabberwocky-level nonsense.

I think it’s anything but nonsense. And I think that part of it is getting clearer for me as I get better at not filtering any of this shit through the usual Presumption Of Regularity.

How is it that we have a CIC who KNOWS an event has been televised to the general public, yet still insists on calling what the WORLD has seen as “Fake News”? Can we possibly use that as proof that his sanity is enough in question that we can use the 25th to get rid of him??? And tonight, Ana Marie Cox rightly said that in terms of morality, we have a monster in the WH who will eat us if we let him.

  • katanahamon

What is it going to take for the people to depose a completely mentally unfit despot?

  • Badgerite

Antifa? Oh. That would be the actual 82nd Airborne. The real one. Anti-fascist would be Winston Churchill, Charles De Gaulle, Dwight Eisenhower and presumably anyone who claims to believe in the US Constitution. As to not having a “permit”? The anti fascists protesters were not bused in. They live there. They were offended by their streets being taken over by armed militia and neo-Nazis with torches brought in from out of town and out of state. And they sought to make that clear by not allowing this show of force by fascists to go unchallenged by any other voices. On a public street, unless you are obstructing traffic, you do not need a permit to be there and carry a sign in opposition to people who are rallying for something you oppose. trump has spent waaay too much time at his own rallies where no contrary voices are allowed. And anyone who does manage to get in to express opposition is probably beaten up at the encouragement of trump himself. But that would be a private event and you can control who attends. Not so a public rally in common public areas. Anyone can be there and you can sure as hell express a view opposing people carrying Nazi flags, and chanting “blood and soil”. This is your First Amendment right as an American citizen to oppose an expression of support for Nazism, white supremacy and the KKK. YOU DO NOT NEED A PERMIT. You ffffffffffing _______.(fill in the blank)
Not in America. For someone who claims to “know the facts”, he really doesn’t know much. Idiot in Chief for sure.

  • Someone buy Trump a thesaurus. He needs it.

  • Michael B. Conway

“War! The Republic is crumbling under attacks by the ruthless Sith Lord, Count Dooku. There are heroes on both sides. Evil is everywhere…”
    Star Wars Episode III

    Maybe Trump was confused.

Bill Kristol tweet about Tucker Carlson’s “thoughts” on slavery.
“They started by rationalizing trump. They ended by rationalizing slavery.”
It is not really so remarkable that you will find liberals quoting Bill Kristol and David Frum. Because, in the final analysis, they have shown themselves to be truly American patriots. And moral. And that is what counts. Loyalty to the Constitution. Loyalty to the Bill of Rights. Loyalty to the universal truths that serve as the foundation of our Republic.
And loyalty to basic human decency.

  • ProudLiberalAlways

Great pic on top! The bear has the same dead-on-the-inside look that defines our Asshole-in-Chief!!!

  • ProudLiberalAlways

Just one thing to say about all of this—-Donald tRump is a truly Pathetic Excuse for a Human Being!!! I know those who voted for him deserve him, but what the hell did the rest of us do? Please Stop this already!! Enough!

  • Badgerite

And 3, 2, 1……Complete POS. What the KKK, and neo-Nazis did in Charlotteville had nothing whatsoever to do with “jobs”.
They were there with armed militia in tow. They surrounded a small group of students with signs who were standing by the statute of Thomas Jefferson. And they attacked them. If Dylan Roof hadn’t already killed 9 people who allowed him to enter their prayer group at their church in Charleston, he would have been in that crowd. And everyone knows it.
trump is trying to go back to the usual excuse that this was all about statutes and economic anxiety. It was not.
This was a political flexing of the militaristic muscle of the KKK, neo-Nazis and white supremacist that trump and his family have encouraged for the last two years. It was an attempt to intimidate. It was an attempt to terrorize. It was a calling card with a promise of future attempts to subvert our democracy and the Bill of Rights. People don’t go around chanting “blood and soil” or “Jew won’t replace us” over jobs or statutes. You POS.
(btw, did I mention that the guy probably is in the early stages of dementia?) He is literally, demented. And hateful.

  • Badgerite

Great point by Charles Johnson. No, the trump Monday statement wasn’t sincerely made. And everything he has said and done since then and before then shows that that was the case. And yes, trump and his families support for the white supremacists, KKK and neo-Nazis has been going on a long time. This went on during the campaign. So it is not a suprise that he would not condemn people who were carrying the Nazi flag, giving the Nazi salute, chanting Nazi slogans, and menacing people who were there to protest. This is just the latest. Yes, this is a “Nazi sympathetic White House”.

Trump may very well be a psychopath. He wants to get caught.

  • Nan Moder

Great discussion gentlemen. Professor, always a pleasure. Thanks

  • Considering the past week’s outrageous news and Trump’s statements during the taping of your show, I’m astonished you got through the whole program with only a single bleep. You’ve got incredible self-control, Bob!

  • Speaking of neo-Nazis and white supremacists…over the last 4 days Sen. Rand Paul has tweeted about health care and hemp, but he still hasn’t issued any statement re: the events in Charlottesville. I imagine he’s probably out of the country on his annual church service mission providing eye surgeries for poor people in the developing world, but still, it’s galling he hasn’t responded, particularly as the neo-Nazi who murdered Heather Heyer grew up in Kentucky.
