So, Gingrich wants the fairness doctrine back (as Chez said). Great! Do it!!!!!

At this point, the election comes down to turnout. Anyone who votes for Jill Stein or Gary Johnson—anyone who buys into nonsense like this—richly deserves to be shunned by polite (and impolite) society.

In Donald Trump’s case, I think what keeps him from sinking beneath the waves is less a matter of people forgetting what he’s done—or been accused of doing—and more a matter of it all running together: “Haven’t I heard about this scandal already, six months ago?”

Jason Chaffetz has never held a principled or honorable position in his life. His “unendorsement” of Trump meant less than nothing, because he was never not going to vote for the dangerous lunatic. Chaffetz is a waste of carbon.

Rs have no choice but to welcome the Trump supporters, because those people are the Republican base. The party has embraced them for decades, and without them, the GOP might as well fold up its Big Tent and steal away in the night.

Megyn Kelly calmly handed Newt Gingrich his giant pumpkin head (thanks for that description, Bob), and good on her for that, but I don’t see that sort of behavior happening very often. As I’ve joked (?) before, her contract has a clause that allows her to behave like a journalist only a certain number of times a year. And $20 million is a good incentive for her to toe the FNC line.

A thrice-married serial adulterer has no choice but to defend another thrice-married serial adulterer. I get that. But Gingrich does so with such slimy enthusiasm, it makes my skin crawl. (Incidentally, Rudy Giuliani is also a thrice-married serial adulterer. Is anyone else detecting a pattern?)

Of course Donald Trump and his more … erm … enthusiastic supporters thought Newton Leroy Gingrich (Advocate of civilization, Definer of civilization, Teacher of the Rules of Civilization, &c, ad nauseam) shut Megyn Kelly down. He was aggressive and shouty and condescending and thus manly (well, as manly as a doughy septuagenarian can be), so he won the argument. Simple as that.

After Donald Trump, no Republican should ever be allowed to speak in public about family values, personal responsibility, fiscal responsibility, the Constitution or national defense. Their party nominated for President an aggressively ignorant, mendacious, thrice-married serial adulterer and pervert who has flown his business into the ground four times, brags about assaulting women, derides the military and who clearly doesn’t understand anything about the Constitution or national government, and I for one intend to remind them of that at every opportunity.

Jeez, when Megyn Kelly drops the mic, she really drops the mic (I hadn’t heard the end of the Gingrich demolition). I’m impressed in spite of myself.

“Take Me Home” is my ringtone. You had me fooled there for a few seconds. Great song.

Guys……The cosplayers from the wildlife refuge were found not guilty on all counts today——God help us all. Check out the story on Daily Kos.

Yeah, that Ammon and Ryan Bundy were acquitted was not good news. They’ll be more dangerous the next time (and there will be a next time).

Why are the last two episodes not on Stitcher?

    • I’m trying to find out.

      • GrafZeppelin127

Thanks. Fortunately my phone can play them off the web page, but it’s unwieldy and cuts off if some other app seizes the web browser.

Is there a way to play the show through Amazon Echo? I said, “Alexa, play the Bob and Chez Show” and “Alexa, play the Bubble Genius Bob and Chez show,” and it couldn’t understand me (viz., it couldn’t understand “Chez”).

  • It’s absolute madness that when Trump doesn’t come out and say something crazy his support goes up. Even if Herr Gropenfuhrer wins I think this country may be screwed anyway.

I could have sworn Kelly almost said “you can take your anger issues…..and shove them up your ass” but she caught herself. Someone should grab that video and make a animated gif out of it with subtitles.

How does a speech to bankers, regardless of content, equate to sexual assault freely admitted by the perpetrator and documented by multiple victims and witnesses? This is the Republican Party..grasping at straws, putting out bald faced lies as truth. If they aren’t voted out soon, this country is in big trouble.

This interview perfectly encapsulates the disgusting nature of Republicans..lying with impunity and as though no one can possibly correct you. This is why they need a Fox network, this is why Adelson bought the paper to squelch criticism and get the stadium passed..without an opposing viewpoint, they can present all kinds of lies as truth. Of course they’ll say Kelly “lost,” it’s the same thing..lying and lies presented as fact. The country has taken a serious hit in allowing Trump to get this far..get out and vote..!

    • It doesn’t. I do wish Kelly had said to him “One is an alleged crime and the other is an alleged reversal of opinion. They aren’t the same effing thing.”

  • Badgerite

Ok. I’m NOT HAPPY. Democrats and any sane person please get out there and vote blue. Hilary Clinton will be a great president. The Trump Monster and Trump Monster Surrogates have publicly threatened people.
I don’t care about his ideology because clearly the Trump Monster has none. I care about his personality and how easily it would gravitate toward fascist solutions. That is what his rhetoric has indicated. That is what his temper tantrums and meltdowns have shown. These are the people who have come to his defense. This is someone who has so little self control that he has literally gone to Gettysburg and threatened people with retaliation. This is not a good person. This is not even a passable person whom one would care to work for. Let alone someone fit to be President of the United States.

Trump aide reveals ‘three major voter suppression operations’

A senior adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign says the GOP nominee’s operation has three “voter suppression” drives intended to lower the vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton and provide a path to victory for Trump.

The three efforts are mentioned by the senior adviser in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek.

“We have three major voter suppression operations under way,” the unidentified senior official told Bloomberg.
The efforts are intended to cut down on votes by white liberals, young women and black voters, three blocs important for Clinton, the official said.

To suppress the vote by “idealistic” white liberals who might have been attracted to Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) campaign, the Trump official said the GOP nominee’s campaign would highlight Clinton’s support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

Trump has also tied his campaign to women who have accused former President Bill Clinton of sexual assault to try to decrease turnout by young women, the official said.

Hillary Clinton has a huge edge among female voters, according to polls. Trump invited three women who have made accusations against Bill Clinton to the second presidential debate.

To try to lower black voter turnout, the senior official said the GOP nominee and his campaign were citing Hillary Clinton’s 1996 comments referring to some young black criminals as “superpredators.”

Bloomberg reported that Trump’s campaign on Oct. 24 started placing spots on select African-American radio stations to highlight the superpredators remark.

The Trump campaign is also delivering an animation involving Clinton’s superpredator line to certain African-Americans on Facebook through campaign-targeted “dark posts” that are not public, Bloomberg reported.

“It will dramatically affect her ability to turn these people out,” the official said, referring to the three groups.

Nowhere in the reported comments does it suggest the Trump campaign is doing anything illegal.

While people commonly understand the term “voter suppression” to mean illegal tactics to disenfranchise minority voters, the Trump campaign’s tactics would better be described as voter demoralization.

According to the Bloomberg report, Trump’s campaign is trying to make African-Americans and other core Clinton constituencies – young women and idealistic liberals – so despondent about the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency that they don’t bother to vote on Nov. 8.

Trump has also separately sought to win over voters from all three groups to his campaign. In an address on Wednesday, Trump promised a “new deal” for black America as he sought to rally African-Americans to his campaign.

Trump has used the attacks on trade and Clinton’s use of the superpredators term in campaign events. Both attacks also came up during the Democratic primary.
Another official for Trump rejected the idea that Trump’s campaign is focused on suppressing any voters during an interview on MSNBC.

“We’re about on our Facebook Live post about energizing our folks,” said Cliff Sims, a communications adviser to Trump.

Sims serves as the host of Trump’s nightly Facebook live broadcasts, which began on Monday.
