Party of Lincoln? These days the GOP isn’t even the Party of Eisenhower. The soul of the ‘Grand Old Party’ has left the building.

Best tweet ever over at Daily Kos.
“Since Bernie didn’t win the nomination, I’m gonna vote for Trump. Also, since the store didn’t have my favorite beer, I’m gonna drink bleach.”
    Says it all. “BOB”

If you haven’t seen it already, check out the speech Elizabeth Warren gave at the American Constitutional Society today. It was amazing.

“The easiest money you will ever make that does not involve a webcam and bestiality.” Chez, that’s disgusting. Funny, but disgusting.

Bernie Sanders knew—or, at the very least, should have known—the rules before he jumped into the Democratic primaries, and it’s not as if superdelegates are a brand spanking new addition to the process. That (some of) his (noisier) supporters don’t understand is partly their fault and partly his.

Bob, don’t lash out. Just ignore the fuming and fussing. Let the True Believers’ self-marginalization.

Barack Obama’s endorsement video wasn’t remarkable—we’ve all come to expect him to be presidential—but then again, it was. I haven’t heard that sort of whole-hearted support by one politician for another very often in my lifetime. And, as I said earlier today, acknowledging Bernie Sanders and his supporters was a graceful gesture. I’m going to miss that man in the White House.

The Huffington Post taught me to avoid comments threads, because there were no grown-ups present. The toxicity was off-the-charts, on damn’ near every topic. (I was honestly surprised by the civility and good humor on display at Bob Cesca’s Goddamn Awesome Blog! Go!, which is the only reason I started commenting on the internet. (You’re to blame, Bob.))

The only way a political party in the US ceases to exist is if some other party comes into being which appeals more to the same constituency. The Republican Party won’t disappear, if only because of the historical value of the name, but it will change; with luck, it will once more become the party for the sane center-Right (without luck, it will become a larger version of the American Independent Party or the Constitution Party).

“Is there any group that Donald Trump has not insulted yet?” Good question. Wealthy white males who are middle-aged or older, perhaps?

Bernie Sanders made a more graceful (there’s that word again) statement than I expected. Perhaps he realized just how much of a threat to, well, everything Donald Trump is.

“Delete your account.” As Charlie Pierce has been know to say, a mark, that will surely leave.

Reince Priebus isn’t exactly the wittiest man on the face of the Earth, is he? I’m surprised he didn’t make some comment about the Mena Airport.

Elizabeth Warren should stay in the Senate, not be Hillary Clinton’s running mate. She will be more effective if she stays put, and I fervently hope she will. If she decides to run for President in eight years, I’ll happily support her.

Will someone please explain to me the Righty obsession with public toilets?

Of course Donald Trump doesn’t pay his bills. It would be noteworthy if he did pay everyone in full and on time.

(Bob, you missed your fuck at 18:05.)

    • Heard today that Bernie wants to affect the party platform and how the party functions. One item they are insisting on is that the party get rid of Superdelegates. First he was against, then for them and now he’s against them again. I hope the party ignores him on this particular issue.

  • Who Me?

Ok, i never heard of this HA Goodman guy so i’m still googling him. One guy has devoted a blog post to HA – basically calling him a hack.

  • Who Me?

    Who is AJ Goodman?

Good show. Right on the money.

Since the best way for a bully to get to you is to get a rise out of you, the best way for Hillary to get to tRump is to refuse to give him what he wants. And, good for her, she knows that!

  • ProudLiberalAlways

In regard to Pres. Obama’s endorsement, did Bernie really bring in many new Democratic voters, or hundreds of “special snowflakes”? I’d LOVE to see someone in the Party gather all of the young people now here and give them a crash course on current affairs. They seem to need one.

  • ProudLiberalAlways

A bad, bad break-up, Bob? This was an election, not a personal relationship. They need to get over the events of the last year and get on with it. We don’t really have the luxury of a lot of time here before the general election, and they should start thinking about the good of the country, not their special feelings.

    • Scopedog

Well, some people won’t…but as Chez would say, f@#! ’em.

Like this jerk, for instance: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/09/anarchists-for-donald-trump-let-the-empire-burn.html

…Honestly, it’s people like this that make me wish I could just reach through the screen and unscrew their heads against the threads.

      • ProudLiberalAlways

        …Honestly, it’s people… Very. Well. Put.

      • Who Me?

” cubicled creatures in the Clinton campaign ” ?

these young punks think they know everything.. I guess that’s why Hillary drew more wins, all the way around, that their beloved Bernie.
